The group is working on attaining landowner permission, planning and funding. Fondly nicknamed the "Aspen of the East," Ellicottville's welcome visitors come here and the community's citizens live here because of the many types of outdoor recreation available, from the Centurion road bike race to Holiday Valley's mountain bike races, aerial park, alpine skiing and more. Yet, it makes sense to ask, “Where can the average person go to run behind a jogging stroller, take a leisurely walk, ride bikes with the whole family, walk the dogs or roller blade without having to deal with traffic or rugged terrain?”
Not everyone is in competition shape to enjoy the year round recreational opportunities that usually take athletes up or down the area's hills. That is why the Ellicottville - Great Valley Recreation Trail Committee has made it their mission to develop and construct a multi-use trail for those looking to improve their health and fitness in a safe, traffic-free environment while enjoying the more moderate terrain of the scenic countryside. To find out how you can make a donation and make a difference, please call Trail Committee Co-Chair Jennie Acklin at (716) 699-4062 or Chairman Ken Hinman at (716) 474-8214. Direct donations can be made online at www.cattfoundation.org or by mailing your check payable to Ellicottville-Great Valley Trail Fund, c/o Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, 120 N. CRCF is a 501(c)(3) public foundation that will receive donations on behalf of the Ellicottville-Great Valley Recreational Trail, allowing donors’ gifts to be tax deductible. CRCF will issue grants from the fund for the creation and maintenance of the trail.
