Inspired by two beloved sports teams from the same city—both enduring historic playoff droughts—this story speaks to the spirit of Buffalo, NY. Now, the Buffalo Sabres, the city’s NHL team, are in the midst of a 14-year playoff drought, despite big-name signings and flashy trades that never quite panned out. m years of loyalty to desperate prayers. Through the years, moments of crisis and triumph on the field and ice have stirred fans to pray harder than ever: names like Kelso, Malarchuk, Everett, Kelly, Jackson, Pegula, and most recently Hamlin have become more than athletes—they’ve been flashpoints for faith in a city that once thrived on worshiping Jesus. As graphic designers often say, teams are just logos stitched on jerseys and pressed to impress. But for fans, it’s deeper than that. Maybe it’s time to look beyond the hype and the headlines, to return to the original playbook—the Bible—for guidance, strength, and hope. What does WNY have to lose? Here are two biblical verses to reflect on: Exodus 32—a reminder about where we place our worship, and Philippians 4:6-7—an encouragement to find peace through prayer. Championships may come and go, but faith in the #1 source will always stand tall. Practice like the pros—but worship higher. So—Let’s Go Buffalo.

POV: Getting the overall “It isn’t all Alex’s fault” perspective. 🥅 But haven’t we watched this fanship lean on more than just 🦁 all season long?

Our team as many knows relied on 3 goalies — but mostly 2 — throughout the 2026 season and this playoff push, and both deserve credit for helping get us to this point (along with this pages prayer warriors you know who you are 😇). We fans have enjoyed watching both netminders carry the load at different moments…
Remember there’s no “i” in team.. for that we should really put UPL back in for the next start — not as blame toward Alex, but as another way for the team to reset and throw a different style at Montreal.

Imagine pouring your body, emotions, preparation, sacrifice and heart into a game… then moments after a painful loss, having to sit under bright lights while reporters fire questions trying to pull emotional reactions, controversy, blame or frustration out of you. Every missed shot, turnover or mistake gets replayed publicly while emotions are still raw.

Fans go home upset for a night. Players carry it in their minds for days.

Sometimes the questions aren’t really about understanding the game — they’re designed to poke at confidence, stir division or create soundbites. That can be demoralizing for any athlete trying to stay mentally strong while representing a city, teammates and family.

At times, Popeye and Bluto have acted more like reluctant friends or teammates than enemies. Most classic cartoons portray them as rivals but in the end they are more like“frenemies” — constant rivals who still understand each other. It’s sorta how social is today… fans in the same team fanship with different backgrounds, religions, races and ideas how to root for our team. Most like the brut fighting imagery while others like the stats. Popeyes spinach is what Christian’s would refer to as the Holy Spirit. Popeye gets superhuman strength from eating it. These all are just analogy’s how we as a fan base can remain solid with one another. God Bless BFLO’s athletes that play on our team and fans. Ty for love taps all that do. This page will always go to yours and like something back too. Not too many pages that promote local sports here can say they do. As always, 🦾
