I am writing my next workbook, which includes 2 of my favorite things: faith deconstruction and the Enneagram. While researching I went down a rabbit trail 🐰

Linked here is a short paper titled “Spiritual Expression Across Generations: An Enneagram Perspective.”

My thought is that while our core motivations are the same, we may pursue spirituality differently across
generations.

I’d love to hear what YOU think. And stay tuned for more about my workbook!

Hildegard of Bingen once wrote of Divine Wisdom and Spirit as being profoundly feminine, utterly overwhelming, and intimately near.

The Divine Feminine is fierce and tender and is within us all:

“She is so bright and glorious that you cannot look at her face or her garments for the splendour with which she shines. For she is terrible with the terror of the avenging lightning, and gentle with the goodness of the bright sun; and both her terror and her gentleness are incomprehensible to humans…. But she is with everyone and in everyone, and so beautiful is her secret that no person can know the sweetness with which she sustains people, and spares them in inscrutable mercy.”
― Hildegard of Bingen

As you read these words, I invite you to consider:

🖊️ Where have you experienced God as both lightning and sunlight—disruptive and healing at the same time?

🖊️ How do you recognize “inscrutable mercy” in your own story, maybe in ways you only recognize in hindsight?

🖊️ What comes to mind as you visualize the Spirit within you as a radiant presence that is also “with everyone and in everyone?”

I had a bit of a fan girl moment with this opportunity to speak to Jeff. I’ve followed Around the Circle for a long time and it’s one of the sources I find to be most resonate. So it was a real joy to discuss Enneagram 8 patterns with Jeff. Tune in, like, and subscribe for all their great content!

Deconstruction IS spiritual formation. Now more than ever, this is important work to pursue. I have some thoughts after watching a news story out of Greg Locke’s “church” and more than anything else, I want to encourage you that you aren’t alone. Leaving toxic communities and wrapping words around the process is important work to do. Let’s do it together.

We are back from summer break and started out with a hot topics episode. There is so much going on in the world and sometimes having nuanced conversation around what's happening around us helps us get perspective and clarity. Special thanks to Melissa Jackson for joining us with her wisdom and insight.

Thanks for having me, Rhonda Noordyk: Financial Divorce Advocate! Women of faith need to hear that divorce does not separate us from God’s love. In cases of high conflict marriages, divorce is a step of faith on a healing journey.

Can faith and divorce coexist? Many women are told no.

But the truth is: divorce can heal broken homes. And more women of faith need to hear this.

In Episode 214, I sit down with Stacey Wynn MDiv, PCC, to talk about faith, divorce, and the path to healing.

We unpack the stigma women of faith face when pursuing divorce, how toxic theology can keep women stuck, and why a safe, judgment-free community is essential. ❤️‍🩹

Stacey also shares practical steps to reclaim agency and embrace emotional intelligence along the way.

Your faith and your future are not lost.

Both can be rebuilt… on your terms. 🕊️

Why Bible Translations Matter

It’s been a hot minute since I joined Natalie Hoffman for a podcast on this topic (link in comments).

The bottom line: translations do matter, especially for women! The CEB and NRSV take special care with pronouns and gender and that is a detail that influences how we, as women, interpret and apply scripture to our lives.

There’s huge value in reading multiple translations—try blueletterbible.org or Biblegateway.com and compare. I have many versions but my favorites are CEB, NRSV, NASB, CJB, and The Message.

What to avoid? KJV and ESV, both tend to mistranslate pronouns and use masculine language that limits broader inclusion.

Explore the power of translation in my study journal (Deconstruction: Your Journey in Faith). We discuss the famous “helpmeet” passage to show how translation builds meaning and influences our lives as women.

You’ll find my workbook on Amazon and via my Linktree (link in comments).

So what to grab on your next study? I recommend a blend: academic (NRSV), conversational (CEB), and paraphrase (Message). A good day-to-day version? You can’t go wrong with NRSV and CEB.
