June is National Safety Month
At GTAC, we believe there is no better time to reinforce the habits that keep responsible gun owners, families, and communities safe.
The Four Rules of Firearm Safety were never designed to work independently. They were designed to work together. They create multiple layers of protection, ensuring that if one safeguard is compromised, another remains in place to prevent tragedy.
When negligent discharges occur, they are rarely the result of a single mistake. More often, several safety principles break down at the same time - a finger on the trigger when it shouldn't be, a muzzle pointed in an unsafe direction, or a failure to positively identify the target and what lies beyond it.
That's why continuous training matters.
Whether you've been carrying for six months or twenty years, the fundamentals deserve regular attention. Safe gun handling is not a skill we master once and move beyond - it's a discipline we continually practice and refine.
This National Safety Month, challenge yourself to review the Four Rules, inspect your habits, and recommit to the standards that make responsible firearm ownership possible.
#1 - Treat every gun as if it is loaded.
#2 - Never point a firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy.
#3 - Finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you are ready to shoot.
#4 - Be sure of your target and what is beyond, between and around it.
Stay safe. Stay GTAC Trained.
