You don't have to destroy your body to get stronger.

For years, we've been told that an effective workout should leave us:

Exhausted.

Sweaty.

Sore.

And feeling like we really "worked."

But what if strength training could be different?

Our SAFE Strength approach uses controlled, time-static contractions to challenge your muscles without long, exhausting workouts.

It's about working smarter, not simply working harder.

And during menopause, I believe that's an important distinction.

We want to maintain and build muscle.

We want to improve strength.

We want better balance and stability.

We want to support mobility.

And we want movement that we can actually sustain.

We don't need to punish our bodies into changing.

We need to give them the right stimulus and then give them the recovery they need.

That's why I combine yoga + SAFE Strength.

Yoga helps us develop mobility, balance, stability, strength and body awareness.

SAFE Strength gives us a focused way to challenge and build muscle.

Together, they create a very different approach to exercise.

Strong doesn't have to mean exhausted.

And next week, I'll show you how I bring all of these pieces together in my 28-Day Menopause Metabolic Reset.

If you think yoga is just stretching, I want to change your mind.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that yoga is simply about flexibility and stretching.

But the way we teach yoga is about so much more.

During menopause, your body needs movement that helps you maintain the things that allow you to feel strong and confident in your everyday life.

That includes:

Strength

Balance

Mobility

Stability

Body awareness

And yes, flexibility too.

But there's another piece I think is especially important:

How yoga makes you feel.

Instead of constantly pushing your body to do more, yoga gives you an opportunity to slow down, breathe, connect with your body and move with intention.

That's important when we're talking about stress.

Your workout doesn't have to leave you exhausted to be effective.

You can challenge your muscles while also creating space to breathe, focus and regulate.

That's why yoga is such an important part of my approach to menopause wellness.

We're not just trying to burn calories.

We're building a body that is strong, mobile, balanced and capable.

And that's a very different goal.

Could your workout be adding more stress to your body?
When you're trying to lose weight or feel better during menopause, it's easy to think:

I just need to work out harder.

More cardio.
Longer workouts.
More intensity.
More calories burned.

But here's something I want you to consider:

More isn't always better.

Exercise is a form of stress on the body. And when you're already dealing with work, family, poor sleep, hormonal changes and the everyday stresses of life, piling on more and more intense exercise may not be the answer.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't exercise.

It means we need to be more intentional about how we're moving.
That's one reason I love yoga and our SAFE Strength approach.
Yoga can help you build:

Balance
Mobility
Stability
Body awareness

And SAFE Strength allows you to build strength using controlled, time-static contractions without spending hours doing exhausting workouts and adding to your stress levels.

The goal isn't to leave every workout completely depleted.
The goal is to become stronger, more stable and more capable while supporting your body instead of constantly pushing it harder.
During menopause, I believe we need to stop asking:

"How much can I do?"

And start asking:

"What type of movement does my body need?"

That shift can make a huge difference.

You don't have to choose between yoga and strength.

Sometimes women tell me:

“I love yoga, but I know I need to strength train.”

Or:

“I'm just not a strength-training person.”

But what if you didn't have to choose?

One of the things that makes our approach different is that we believe yoga and strength can work beautifully together.

Our exclusive yoga method, Functional Yoga Instruction, isn't simply about stretching.

We intentionally use yoga to help develop:
✅ Strength
✅ Stability
✅ Mobility
✅ Balance
✅ Body awareness

And then we complement that with SAFE Strength, our approach to resistance training using controlled, time-static contractions.
Why is this important during menopause?

Because this is a season of life when we want to be intentional about maintaining muscle, supporting strong bones, improving balance and keeping our bodies capable and strong.

But we also want movement that feels good.

Movement that doesn't leave you completely depleted.
Movement that you actually enjoy and can continue doing.

That's the sweet spot.

Build strength.
Improve mobility.
Move with purpose.
Recover.
Repeat.

Fitness during menopause isn't about punishing your body for what the scale says.

It's about building a body that can support you for the years ahead.

And that's what we're going to continue exploring together. ❤️

Why I want you thinking about muscle—not just the scale.

When you're working on your health during menopause, it's easy to get caught up in one number:

Your weight.

But the scale doesn't tell you how strong you are.

It doesn't tell you how well you can get up and down from the floor.

It doesn't tell you how stable you feel.

And it doesn't tell you how capable you want your body to be 10 or 20 years from now.

That's why I want women to start thinking beyond weight loss and start thinking about muscle.

Maintaining and building muscle is an important part of staying strong and capable as we age.

And this is why strength training is one of the foundations of my approach.

But here's the good news:

Strength training doesn't have to mean spending an hour in a gym lifting heavy weights.

You don't have to become a bodybuilder.
You don't have to destroy yourself during a workout.
You simply need to challenge your muscles consistently and appropriately.

That's what we focus on with our strength-training method, SAFE Strength.

And we also bring strength into our yoga practice.

Because yoga isn't just about stretching.

The way we teach yoga can help you develop:
✅ Strength
✅ Stability
✅ Mobility
✅ Balance
✅ Body awareness

So instead of asking:

“How many calories did I burn?”

Try asking:

“What did I do today that helped make my body stronger?”

That's a much more powerful question for this season of life. ❤️

Are you eating enough to support your body during menopause?

When women want to lose weight, one of the first things we often do is eat less.

Smaller portions.
Cut out carbs.
Skip snacks.
Avoid dessert.

But what if, instead of always asking:

“What can I take away?”
we started asking:
“What does my body need?”

One of the things I want women to pay attention to during menopause is protein.

Protein helps support your muscles, and maintaining muscle becomes increasingly important as we move through midlife.
So rather than focusing only on restriction, think about building nourishing meals.

✅ Start with a quality protein source.
✅ Add plenty of vegetables and fiber-rich foods.
✅ Include healthy fats.
✅ Choose carbohydrates that work well for your body.
✅ Give yourself enough food to feel satisfied and nourished.

This doesn't mean you need a perfect diet.

It means giving your body the building blocks it needs to feel and function well.

Because your goal isn't simply to weigh less.

Your goal is to become stronger, healthier and more metabolically supported.

And that's a very different approach.

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to continue breaking down the five areas I believe are so important during menopause: nourish, regulate, move, strengthen and restore.

❤️ It's time to stop asking, “What can I eat less of?” and start asking, “What can I give my body more of?”

When many people hear the word yoga, they think:

Stretching.
Flexibility.
Relaxation.

And yes, yoga can absolutely provide those benefits.

But the way we teach yoga, strength is part of the practice, too.

As women move through perimenopause and menopause, maintaining muscle, balance, mobility and stability becomes increasingly important.

That's why we don't want yoga to simply be about becoming more flexible.

We want your practice to help you become stronger and more confident in your body.

That might mean:
✨ Building strength while holding a pose
✨ Challenging your balance and stability
✨ Improving mobility so everyday movement feels better
✨ Developing greater body awareness
✨ Learning to move with control rather than forcing your body into a position

And this is also why we pair yoga with SAFE Strength workouts.

SAFE Strength is designed to challenge your muscles through controlled, time-static contractions — giving you a simple, efficient way to work on strength without spending hours in the gym.

Yoga + SAFE Strength = movement that supports a strong, capable body.

And that's especially important during menopause.

Because this season isn't about trying to get your old body back.
It's about building a body that can carry you strongly into the next chapter of your life. ❤️

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to share more about the five areas I believe can make such a difference during menopause: nutrition, stress, yoga, strength and sleep.
