Styles Of Roller Skating

Except when I watch ‘Shuffle’ skating, I don’t see any variation of rhythmic movements. They seem to skate at a very high tempo to a consistent fast beat. However, when it comes to JB skating and what I have always termed the ‘Westcoast Roll’. Like ‘Shuffle’ Skating all three styles uses the outer areas of the skating floor. (Just for clarification, it’s a style actually done around the country, and depending on the part of the country, skaters refer to the style in qas ‘Jam’ skating. Back in the 70’s we called it ‘Westcoast Roll’ because this style of skating was done up and down the Westcoast. These style takes on a skate groove expression, like no other, as they display the many rhythmic movements and steps, which are many. 🛼 A Monday Morning, Adult ‘Skate Therapy’ Session 🛼
Where: Lynnwood Bowl and Skate, 6210 200th St. SW, Lynnwood, WA 98036
When: Starting October 6th, 2025 / 11:00am to 2:00- Open Skate Session. Doors Open at 10:45am - $15 admission, includes skates.

🛼‘Skate Therapy’ is a concept that offers a wholesome impact on the mind and body therapeutically by the music and lyrics being played. The goal of ‘Skate Therapy’ is to have a playlist that represents the past, present and future experiences of the skaters.
💽 The playlist will include genre of R&B, Pop, Progressive Jazz, and some Hip-Hop from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s.
🛼 The program will also Include skate specials like; backwards, couples/pairs, trios, trains, and reverse direction.
💽 The specials will be combined with a set playlist in which the music will be played with the purpose of enhancing the open
session and skate specials, to get the total impact of the ‘Skate Therapy’ experience.
🛼 The main requirement for a ‘Skate Therapy’ experience is called “Skate Floor Etiquette”.
🛼This concept encourages for
all skaters to skate within imaginary skating lanes as they make their way around the skate floor. This concept is enforced by respected and effective floor guards.
🛼 If you are retired!
🛼 Need a safe and fun
physical activity to get
moving.
🛼 If you would like to meet fun and both experienced as well as Beginners, this adult skate
session is for you and your
friends.
🛼 You brought skates, and
they’re sitting there waiting
for you to use them. Get Up
and Get Out.
🛼 Want to do a good cross-training activity that is therapeutic for the mind and body as well as being a part of a fun and healthy
environment with fun and
