MGM Chassis Hits the Ground Running at APEX Karting Championships — Midwest Round 1
This past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the MGM Chassis team made the trip to New Castle Motorsports Park for Round 1 of the APEX Karting Championships Midwest series, and what a weekend it was. Being there in person with our drivers, our families, and our partners is what this sport is all about, and NCMP delivered a first round full of pace, podiums, and plenty of stories to tell.
206 Masters — Jamie Bradford Puts on a Clinic
If there was one performance that defined the weekend, it was Jamie Bradford’s run in 206 Masters. Jamie kicked things off with a 2nd in the first heat, then flipped the script and reeled off three straight wins, taking the second heat, the pre-final, and the final race. That’s the kind of weekend every driver dreams about, and it was a pleasure to watch unfold from the pits.
Levi Wilbur put together a strong, consistent weekend of his own in the Masters class, with a 3rd in heat one, a 3rd in heat two, and a 2nd in the pre-final before bringing it home 5th in the feature. Front-running pace all weekend long.
206 Senior — Strong Showings Across the Board
The 206 Senior class brought out a deep MGM contingent. Jack Sutton made the trip down from Chicago and ran inside the top 5 all weekend, a great performance against tough competition. Trackhouse local Kellan Weiss was in the mix as well, representing the home crowd. Carter Kilgo had top 5 speed all weekend before an unfortunate on-track incident took him out of the feature, but that’s racing, and we know he’ll bounce back.
We also had a pair of drivers making their first-ever trip to NCMP in Sawyer St. Clair and Cam Burris. Stepping onto a new national-caliber track and getting laps under your belt is no small feat, and both drivers gained valuable experience that’ll pay off down the road. Ryan Sukeena rounded out the Senior group with a 12th-place finish in a stacked field.
Anderson Hemphill — Double Duty Done Right
Anderson Hemphill took on double duty for the weekend, running both Briggs and Mini Swift. In Briggs, Anderson brought home the win, a fantastic result and a testament to the work he’s been putting in. On the 2-cycle side in Mini Swift, he showed continuous improvement throughout the weekend before a lap 1 incident in the feature allowed the leaders to check out. Even with that setback, the speed and growth he showed across the weekend was something to be proud of.
A Huge Thank You
A weekend like this doesn’t happen without the people who help make it possible. A huge thank you to the Bradford Autocare team for allowing us to pit with them and utilize their garages all weekend, your hospitality and support meant the world to our team and drivers. And a big thank you to the entire NCMP staff for putting on a first-class event from green flag to checkered. New Castle continues to set the standard for how a karting weekend should be run.
Looking Ahead
Round 1 in the books, and MGM Chassis is off to a strong start in the APEX Midwest series. Big congratulations to every one of our drivers, from the podium finishers to the first-timers, every lap counts and every one of you represented this brand the right way.
On to the next one. 🏁
