Juan Rodriguez's story begins in Las Vegas, NV where he grew up, but the chapters in his life become the most interesting after moving to Portland, OR. The authenticity of the Pacific Northwest was a stark contrast to the unreliable lifestyle of Southern Nevada's most scandalous city. Yet he quickly found his place within Portland's quirky and accepting style. Soon after arriving, when things couldn't seem to get better for a young adult out on his own for the first time, Juan began climbing at Stoneworks Climbing Gym. The love and support that poured from the gym's community set Juan on a trajectory that would have him climbing all over the country and then all over the world, sharing a combined passion for climbing and a less conventional lifestyle with whomever he made friends with. In 2014, with the help of a dear friend, Juan realized his dream of opening a climbing shop in Beaverton, OR. He collaborated with his entire community to design AntiGravity Equipment inside the very gym that started it all. Today, AntiGravity Equipment in collaboration with his Stoneworks family, has carved an extraordinary niche in the Portland Metro area that has quickly become synonymous with family, adventure, and all things climbing. It is the sum of all the inspiration and originality that Juan and his friends bring to the table, and it simply doesn't get better than that.

I spend a lot of my time encouraging people to do more.

Get stronger. Build endurance. Learn new skills. Climb the route. Step into the ring. Find out what your body is capable of.

And I live that way too.

But I don’t train so I can spend my whole life training.

I train so I have the strength, health, confidence, and capacity to go live it.

Sometimes that means chasing big adventures. And sometimes it means packing up and disappearing into the woods, turning off the phone, and doing absolutely nothing productive for a while.

South Lake. Trask River. Reehers. 🌲

Three little reminders that a strong life needs space for quiet too.

No clients.
No workouts.
No deadlines.
No rush.

Just coffee in the morning, miles of forest, a book, a place to sleep, and nowhere else I need to be.

Build a body that supports the life you want to live — and then don’t forget to go live it. 🖤🌲

They raised his hand. He earned it. Congratulations to my opponent on a hard-fought, well-deserved victory. 🥊

This was my eighth amateur bout and one of the closest fights I’ve ever had. I walked away with a split decision loss, but I also walked away with clarity.

I’m not interested in making excuses.

The weight cut wasn’t ideal.
Seven weeks wasn’t enough.
Life outside the gym demanded more of me than I was ready for.

Those things are true.

They’re also my responsibility.

The beautiful thing about boxing is that it doesn’t lie. The ring reflects the work you’ve done—and the work you still need to do.

So I’ll learn from this camp, make the changes I know I need to make, and get back to work.

Because one result doesn’t define a fighter.

The willingness to keep showing up does.

See you at the next one. 🖤🥊

Catch. Read. Respond. 🥊

Building off a mitt drill Coach Molly calls the machine, we turned it up a notch — adding live reads, blocks, and 3-punch counters.

It’s not just about throwing combinations. It’s about recognizing what’s coming, staying composed, and responding with intention. Reflexes, timing, and decision-making all working together in real time.

This is where mitt work starts to feel like a conversation instead of a script.

📩 If you want to sharpen your reactions and learn how to turn defense into offense, come train with me. Let’s build it.
Atrapa. Lee. Responde. 🥊

Vamos a trabajarlo.

3 months in and Kai’s been putting in serious work 💪

Full body training with a heavy emphasis on legs and glutes — and he’s been absolutely crushing it every step of the way. Consistent, focused, and always ready to work.

Proud of the progress and we’re just getting started.

And if you’re looking for the best in the game with curly hair, go see him at Gilded Fox — Kai’s the best! ✂️🔥
