We had an amazing weekend with friends at Oklahoma Thunder Dock Diving! Day One Josie got off to an amazing start with EV she went in at 5’6 and had a miss at 6’4 but grabbed the second then missed at 6’6! She’d never seen 6’6 before and reviewing video I see why she had the miss at 6’4, completely my fault. We went onto Big Air after that where she jumped a 19’5 earning her second in that wave for the Senior division. We had another Big Air wave but we don’t talk about that one lol. Later on we did her favorite game of speed retrieve, setting a NEW PB! 6.408 overall time with a reaction time of .407, so pretty much I need to get it together for her😂 we followed that up with a 6.418 overall with a .3xx reaction. That earned her second in that nitro qualifying wave.
Saturday morning we were able to get into EV again. I changed her starting height to 5’8, she went all the way to 6’10 and double missed there (making 6’8 our NEW PB). Amber King began calling her the little cattle dog that could considering she was up there with the whippet mixes and malinois! little girl was just tired. Went onto Big Air after there where she did a 17’3🫣.
Saturday evening I helped with dueling dogs set up and was conned into entering, we’d never duelled before. Our first time dueling we ran a 7.282 against Amber and Teddy. I was grateful to be able to duel for the first time against them. I knew if Josie crossed Teddy wouldn’t care and Amber would offer up advice to help us out. We took a BBI to try to improve our time, earned a 6.916 earning her a spot in class 2 finals. Josie then got to duel with Catherine Paruz handling her, she’d never been handled at an event by someone else so I saw it as a learning experience for her. She was super confused doing a bunch of looking around for me and ran an 8.1xx with Catie🫣 we went onto Class 2 finals and little girl was just so tired she didn’t have much left so we lost against Wendi & Zeus that round. Just grateful to have been able to experience dueling and get three clean runs in with her. I had planned on heading home Saturday but ending up needing to stay since dueling went late. So thankful that Ron Lauscher and his amazing wife let me and the dogs crash with them and their golden crew for the night!
Sunday she was going to handled by Anna Paruz but wasn’t acting right when I would pet her back, so we scratched her for the rest of the day and headed home with Josie and Twitch early. I’m so thankful to Janet Surface and her family for putting Josie’s health first.
Catie and I rolled in with the 3 dogs Thursday to set up and get some practice and check our EV starting heights. After we did that while Payton King was vacuuming the pool I took Rip up to let him play. he did some amazing ramp work so I took him over to the half dock, after a few tries and encouragement he went off the half dock a couple times with Payton helping him find his toy and making sure he made up the ramp safely. Payton said try the dock so we did, Rip went right off! He loves this so far. A couple people said he’s already jumping 7 and 8 feet just popping off the dock! He got the same opportunities quite a few more times through the weekend, and is going off for a bumper instead of disc now! He got lots of socializing this weekend and lots of disc play to keep him busy. everybody loved the little dude. We are super excited for his future.
I am so happy for everyone we hung out this weekend! Catie and Twitch had such an amazing weekend, winning some bling and getting 1st place in class 3 dueling!!! Anna had a great weekend with Trance and Traitor seeing her smile made me so happy, Patty Emery-Ypya and her dogs did amazing! Benji Wilson got to jump momma Perdy and end some bling! So many great accomplishments this weekend!
