🏳️‍🌈⛸️ Today the Nittany Valley Figure Skating Club proudly participated our second State College Pride Parade, and it was the largest parade in the history of State College Pride!

Our skaters, coaches, parents, and board members came together to show that NVFSC is an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive community for everyone who loves the ice. Skating is for everyone!

Thank you to everybody who marched with us, cheered us on, and helped make this a day to remember. We can’t wait to see you next year! 💙💜💛💚❤️

Hats off to the Class of 2026! 🎓NVFSC congratulates Andreas Schmitz for his graduation from State College Area High School. During his time in high school, Andreas spent 4 years on the SCAHS boys tennis team. He has worked with the same coach, Coach Beth, for over a decade. Andreas recently passed his first skating test — Pre-Preliminary Skating Skills — and he’s also passionate about a different kind of skating: skateboarding! This summer, Andreas will be traveling to Germany and Italy to enjoy both of his grandmothers’ cooking. We wish Andreas good luck on his next chapter at Kent State University, where he will major in architecture. We know you’ll make us proud! 🎉

Hats off to the Class of 2026! 🎓NVFSC congratulates Giulia for her graduation from State College Area High School. An accomplished trumpet player, Giulia spent 4 years as a member of the SCAHS marching band, 3 years as a member of the symphonic band, and 1 year in the jazz band and orchestra. She was a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and served as the secretary during her senior year. Giulia achieved honor roll status during every semester and is a member of the National Honor Society. She’s a recipient of the 2026 Kiwanis Club Scholarship for community service. On the ice, Giulia spent 4 years on the Central Pennsylvania High School Figure Skating Team and 2 years as an NVFSC Junior Board officer. She received the Abby Yeagley Memorial Scholarship in 2023 and became a USFS Gold Medalist in 2025 when she passed the Gold Skating Skills test. Giulia was also a medal and flag presenter during 2025 Skate America. We are so proud of Giulia’s achievements on and off the ice! We wish her good luck at Penn State University, where she will major in graphic design. 🎉

Hats off to the Class of 2026! 🎓NVFSC congratulates Sarah Biggs, who recently graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in New Media Design. Sarah graduated with honors and is currently pursuing an internship for a voting action committee. During Sarah’s time in college, she became a USFS Gold Medalist by passing the Gold Solo Free Dance test. We are so proud of Sarah’s academic achievements and her dedication to the sport of figure skating. Good luck on your next chapter, Sarah! 🎉

NVFSC congratulates our newest USFS Gold Medalist, Natalie, who passed the Gold Skating Skills test with honors. ⭐️

Natalie would like to say thank you to her coaches Gloria Masterson Leous and Juliana Drozd who helped her reach this milestone, as well as her parents for their support.

We are proud of Natalie’s dedication and hard work, and we look forward to celebrating her achievement during our 2026 ice show. ⛸️

Our annual picnic will be held on Friday, June 12 at Spring Creek Park Pavilion #2. The picnic will begin at 5:30pm and presentations will begin at 6:00pm. Come celebrate the achievements of our skaters during the 2025-2026 season!

Our graduating seniors will be recognized, as well as all skaters who passed tests this season. All full and junior associate members are invited to join us at the picnic with their families.

We hope to see you at the picnic!
