A strong start to the season for Girls Cross Country! 🔥🏃‍♀️

Newcomer junior Sophia Shaw led the way for the Firebirds, joined by Hayden Nolan, Chrissy Cyrus, Brooke Corbett, and Alexa Sferrazza to earn a 5th-place Varsity finish in a competitive 20-team field at the Abington Invitational in Pennsylvania!

The JV squad also had a great showing, finishing as runners-up behind strong performances from Annie Paige, Izzy Rei, Briana Mascia, Veronica Joseph, and Jasmine Kraljev.

A great opening weekend for the Firebirds with plenty more to come! 🔥

We are so excited to be the 2026 cross country season underway! Reminder: you must be cleared by the athletic department to tryout.

Your fall season doesn’t have to end before it starts! If you’re still looking for an opportunity to compete on a sport this fall, come out for Cross Country. Boys should reach out to Mr. Capozzoli ([email protected]) and girls should reach out to Mr. Brown ([email protected]).

Our XCTF program wanted to take the time to highlight Maria Regina alum Rob Fyfe ahead of his reunion! A member of Maria Regina’s track and field team from the class of 1977, Rob has opened Palmetto Running Company in Hilton Head and Bluffton, South Carolina.

“The Palmetto Running Club is a welcoming, non-competitive community for runners of all levels. Whether you’re new to running, coming back after a break, or a seasoned marathoner, our club is focused on creating an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the benefits of running without the pressure of competition. As part of a nationwide initiative, these honors recognize the top high school athletes in each state based on verified performances from the outdoor season. Job’s not done.

Behind every medal, personal best, and record this season were countless early mornings, late nights, and moments no one ever sees. Our boys and girls programs reached new heights with All-Americans, All-State performances, championship titles, school records, and countless personal bests along the way.

To every athlete: your hard work has not gone unnoticed. Whether your season ended on the podium or with a new PR, your commitment helped make this program what it is. Keep believing, keep working, and keep trusting the process.

Thank you to our parents, families, faculty, staff, friends, and alumni for your unwavering support throughout the year. We couldn’t have done it without you.

We’ll celebrate this season, learn from it, and get back to work. The foundation has been laid, and we’re excited for what’s next.
