Great little survey to fill out!

The DNR and Citizen Deer Advisory Councils (CDACs) are seeking public feedback on Wisconsin's deer management, including harvest quotas, management zones and more ahead of the 2026 deer season.

You can help shape local deer herd management preferences by providing input during the online input period (April 4-12). This feedback will be discussed by the CDACs as they develop local recommendations for the DNR.

You can also participate in-person by attending the CDAC meetings (April 20-30). Join the discussion about local deer management and provide input on deer season details. Meetings include a review and discussion of current unit data on harvest trends, herd health, the deer hunter experience and deer/human conflict issues like crop and property damage.

The CDAC meetings are posted on the Citizen Deer Advisory Council webpage and on the DNR's Events Calendar.

So cool. This is what it’s all about.

Imagine this.

You're the father of a 10 year old son who loves to go fishing, and you're considering bringing him into the tournament fishing scene that you've been a part of since you were a young man.

You know that this will be challenging; managing gear for two anglers, traveling, middle school, high school, sports, a career, a family, and a busy home filled with family that also need your love and attention.

You know there will be tough days, wrong decisions, bitter cold, things broken, early mornings, illnesses, losses, adversity and challenges that will cause a lot of questions that only a true mentor can answer - truthfully.

But guess what? The kid WANTS to do it. How can you say no to him? You know that if done right how fulfilling it can be to show him comradery, growth, and have a great time catching fish with your boy.

Fast forward, I mean FAST. Your boy is now a 15 year old young man hardened by experience and equipped with knowledge that he's gained competing against people that are tirelessly working to outwork, outsmart and out-fish you and your 15 year old son.

The 2026 Team of the Year plaques are now in their hands and the history books have been re-written.

In 2026 Steve and Reed Resch won two out of four events. The other two events - they settled for second. The father-son team hold the all-time record for the most total weight in a season just short of 50 pounds. For those of you keeping track - that's 60 panfish total. Reed, at age 15, caught big fish on 2 of the 4 events. Oh, and two crappies that both rank in the top 9 in Minnesota Made history.

All of the long days are now replaced with ear-to-ear smiles, laughs, sky-high hooksets, transducer pulls, giant crappies, circle-digging sunfish, high fives, hugs and victory.

Steve and Reed are the first father & son team to ever win team of the year in Minnesota Made history, and boy do they ever deserve it.
