Summer Ideas for Kids: Keep Them Active, Confident, and Growing
Summer is a wonderful time for children to relax, explore, and make memories. However, many parents also face the challenge of finding activities that keep kids active, engaged, and away from screens.
If you’re looking for ways to make this summer meaningful, here are a few ideas that help children have fun while continuing to grow as individuals.
1. Explore the Outdoors
Take advantage of Idaho’s beautiful scenery by going on family hikes, camping trips, bike rides, or visits to local parks. Outdoor adventures help children build confidence, resilience, and an appreciation for nature.
2. Encourage Reading and Learning
Summer is a great opportunity for kids to discover new books, learn a hobby, or develop a skill they’ve always wanted to try. Even 20 minutes of reading each day can make a big difference when school starts again.
3. Volunteer as a Family
Helping others teaches gratitude, compassion, and responsibility. Whether it’s participating in a community project or helping a neighbor, children learn valuable life lessons through service.
4. Join a Martial Arts Program
Martial arts is one of the few activities that develops both the body and the mind.
Children learn:
* Confidence and self-esteem
* Respect for themselves and others
* Focus and concentration
* Self-discipline and responsibility
* Goal setting and perseverance
* Practical self-defense skills
Beyond learning punches and kicks, martial arts teaches children how to handle challenges, overcome obstacles, and believe in themselves. Every class helps students grow stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Building Better Kids for the Future
At Low’s Martial Arts Academy, our mission has always been about more than martial arts. We strive to help young people become confident leaders, respectful students, and strong members of their families and communities.
This summer, give your child an opportunity to stay active, make new friends, and develop skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.
Strong individuals. Strong families. Stronger communities.
