My boys make me so proud! They are all amazing men and constantly make me proud. I spent the last 2 weeks working side by side with in Mississippi, training some awesome dudes. Watching Jeremy shoot and instruct was definitely something that made me proud. Moving 2000 miles away from home to chase his dream and learn the craft shows dedication and determination. I'm so proud of him.

Veterans Day is a special day to me personally and to our staff and family here at Washington Street Pawn. We are teaming up again this year with the Depot grill and providing a free meal for veterans tomorrow on Veterans Day. We want to thank those who have served and are currently serving our country. We thank you for your sacrifice and we salute you. We know it's not much but please feel free to stop in to the depot Grill tomorrow and enjoy some amazing food and feel our gratitude. If you ever need to talk or we can help our door is always open here at the shop and we will do what we can. We are so proud of our veterans and this community we are so blessed to live in.

HELLO EVERYONE WE HAVE MET OUR GOAL. I AM OVERWHELMED BY THE KINDNESS THAT HAS BEEN POURED IN OVER THE LAST 24 HOURS. WE DO A LOT OF FUNDRAISERS AND I DON'T HAVE TO SAY THIS OFTEN BUT WE HAVE RAISED ENOUGH MONEY TO TAKE CARE OF DONALD AND HIS WIFE FOR A WHILE. I HAVEN'T ADDED IT ALL UP YET BUT I AM ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO HANG ON TO FURTHER DONATIONS, WATCH OUR FACEBOOK PAGE AT WASHINGTON STREET PAWN AS WE OFTEN ENCOUNTER VETERANS AND FAMILIES IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP AND WE DO FUNDRAISERS FOR THEM. This Donald Bingham. He is 85 years old. He joined the Marine corps reserve at 15 and went active duty at 16. He served in the Marine corps from 1955 till 1960 and then reenlisted in 1967 and served in combat in Vietnam. Donald borrows money from us every month. His wife is in ill health and he brings a wheelchair in and borrows money on it. Lately he has been struggling. We have been loaning him money interest-free with no collateral and he always pays us back. I would like to surprise him when he comes in next time with some cash for he and his wife. He has served his country and he is truly a fine man. Life is relentless set times. Donald lives on a fixed income it never reaches the end of the month. When he came in today I just felt moved that I should reach out and see if we couldn't do a fundraiser for him. He has no idea we are doing this and was curious why I wanted a picture with him. He just a normal old guy putting one foot in front of the other to make it to the end of the month every month. I have this rifle I will put up if people would like to come in and get some tickets for it. I feel like we reach out a lot. There are a lot of people we interact with that we help on our own but there are certain cases I feel could use more help than we can muster on our own. I would love it if we could raise some money for Donald and his wife. The tickets will be one for $5, 5 for $20 or 30 for $100. We will run this raffle through Monday August 1st.

16 million US citizens served in the military during world war II. My father, Devon Andersen was one of those who stood to fight against oppression, tyranny, and genocide. Millions of ordinary men and women stood when this country and the world needed them most and preserved freedom for our country and brought Liberty and peace to millions more around the world. Of those 16 million who stood when they were called only 150,000 are still with us today. In 5 years almost all of them will be gone. This weekend is a time for us to gather as families and friends and enjoy the holiday but most importantly it's about remembering those who died and those who lived standing for freedom. From those who died at Lexington and Concord in 1775 to those who are serving today we remember you, we appreciate you, and we recognize your sacrifice. The freedoms we enjoy today were not granted to us by some government bureaucratic agency, these freedoms were paid for by the blood of Patriots who gave all so we could enjoy them. Be sure to take a moment this weekend and send up some prayers of thanks and share some history with your family so they can have a better understanding why we this holiday is so sacred. Thank you Dad for being an example of what being a man is, what service over self looks like, and being willing to stand when your country and the world needed you most.

UPDATE!!!! PLATE CARRIER AND PATCHES HAVE BEEN RETURNED. THANKS EVERYONE FOR FOR SHARING AND CARING.
I need some help please. Has anyone seen this plate carrier on anyone out shooting. My son had this plate carrier stolen about 10 days ago we figure. It either got stolen from the trunk of my car at Washington Street Pawn or off the counter. The plate carrier is a few hundred dollars but the patches that were on it were priceless. He has worked since the age of 14 on our range and has been awarded these patches from teams all over the world. I can't describe the meaning of these patches to him and the hard work he is put into earn them. I'm offering a $1,000 reward for the return of his patches. If I had $100,000 I would give it but it's all I can do at the moment. If you've been on the range or you have a friend that happened to acquire this vest please return the patches to me at Washington Street Pawn. To say we are heartbroken would be a huge understatement. This has so much special meaning to us as the people that presented these to him are the best of the best. I try not to ask for much but I need someone to do the right thing and I need people to be on the lookout. The plates in this vest are tactical scorpion gear polypropylene, the vest is an ESSTAC. PLEASE PLEASE HELP US FIND IT.

My boys make me so proud. Jeremy is a senior this year and I should be posting pictures of him attending prom this weekend. Instead he was 1800 miles away working with some of America's most elite warriors. He had to shoot in front of an all star cast of the best currently serving our country. He could have attended prom but he chose to take on this very rare privilege and immense challenge and nailed it. In all of his demonstration shoots he shot perfect without missing a single shot. To say it was proud would be the world's greatest understatement. The men and women we have an opportunity to train are the best and to see a 17-year-old sacrifice his high school memories for the opportunity to assist in their training and be selected for such an opportunity is really inspiring to me as a father.
