Every day’s a new adventure at camp, whether you’re…

🧗‍♂️ 🐎 climbing onto the back of a horse or climbing up the side of a rock face
🏈 🎣 catching a football or catching a trout
🎯 🔨 hitting the target or hitting hot iron
🏀 🪚making the shot, making something new in woodshop, or (and?) making friends

Grateful for another day to “choose our own adventure!”

The other half of camp went on their Cabin Overnights last night! The first six photos are from those camp outs, and the rest are of the fun happening around camp earlier in the day. We had some scattered showers, but the activities and trips don’t stop with a little rain!

🏃‍♂️💨 It’s full speed ahead in the June Camp session! Yesterday was the first full day of activities, so boys were trying new things and returning to old favorites all around camp.

They could also participate in preps for upcoming adventure trips, including backpacking, mountain biking, paddling, and rock climbing. Sailing and fly fishing day trips were happening too.

In the evening, half of camp went on their Cabin Overnights! They hiked out to shelters on property to cook dinner, sit around a campfire together, and go camping as a cabin. The other half played Evening Program games, and tonight we switch so everyone has the chance to do both. 🏕️

The day we’ve all been waiting for… yesterday was Opening Day and this mountain has come alive again with the arrival of campers!

Parents, after you headed back home we started playing games, getting to know our cabin mates, and gathered for a fun afternoon assembly. Later in the day we signed up for our daily activities, enjoyed Evening Program, wrapped up a big day with Opening Campfire. You can read more about the day on our blog!

Blogs are posted every morning, and you can expect stories, reflections, and occasional guest posts from staff throughout the summer.

We hope you had safe travels back home yesterday. Thank you for sharing your sons with us this summer!

WE’RE READY 🙌 June Campers arrive tomorrow morning and we can’t wait to welcome them to the mountain!

Towards the end of staff orientation, cabin counselors got to find out what Cabin Line they’re part of: Sorrel, Tsuga, Robinia, or Betula. Tomorrow, the boys will find out the same!

June Camp families, we can’t wait to see you between 8:30-11:30am tomorrow morning. The countdown is almost over!

Adventure staff had the chance to practice their teaching skills during training “day trips” to paddle, climb, bike, and hike this week! 🛶 🚲 🧗‍♂️ 🥾

They led fellow counselors from other activities on fun day trips, just like the ones they’ll be taking campers on soon. Adventure staff arrived in mid-May for the Wilderness First Responder course, and they took multi-day training trips in their adventure activities, all before the full staff training began on May 29th. After three weeks of preparation and training, they’re eager to get out on some trips with campers!

Staff Orientation has been in full swing, but between the classes, certifications, and informational sessions we’ve had plenty of time for “fun stuff” too! Last night we all watched the sun set from the upper riding ring, enjoyed some competitive dodgeball matches, and played games on the turf field.

We’ve had first aid and CPR training, discussions around camper “ages and stages,” talks about how the Dining Hall and Infirmary work, sessions on risk management and good decision making, van driver training, and guest speaker visits from alumni (hello Harry Titus!)

Only a couple days left until campers join us!

It’s been three busy days of All-Staff-Orientation so far! We’ve been getting to know each other, sharing camp’s culture, mission, & purpose, discussing risk management, emergency plans, activity instruction, training drivers, setting goals, practicing problem solving, and more.

In between the “serious stuff” there’s been time for plenty of fun too - like playing Whirled Cup Games, funny skits, and cabin overnights.

The 2026 staff team has been giving it their all to make sure they’re as prepared as possible for a fun and safe summer. One week until campers join us!  🏕️
