🏆 EVENT 6 — BOYS 20 FREE | Meet 6, 2026

Only two boys have held the Blue Buoy record in this event all season. On Saturday they swam next to each other, lanes 3 and 4, in the last heat of the year — and the judges couldn't separate them.

Benjamin Killin owned it from the opening meet: 21.07 in June, then 20.71. Then he missed two meets, and Sebastian Meichtry took it from him — 20.28 at Meet 3, then 19.87 at Meet 4. Ben came back at Meet 5 and took it right back with an 18.16.

So the only two boys who have ever held this record came into the final meet side by side.

Ben touched at 17.73. Sebastian at 17.85.

The judges awarded them both 1st place. 🥇🥇

And that 17.73 is a new meet record — Benjamin broke his own. Which is exactly what his brother Xander Killin did in Event 4 the same afternoon. Two Killin brothers, one meet, two records, both taken off themselves.

Before Saturday, no boy in this event had ever been under 18 seconds. Two of them did it in the same heat, and finished tied.

⚡ And that still wasn't the biggest swim of the day.

William Reynolds got in with a best of 34.01 and went 20.97. Thirteen seconds. Out of the first heat, and it still put him 3rd overall in the whole event.

8 of 11 boys swam personal bests. A few worth naming:

🔹 Mark Molokov has improved at every single meet he's raced — 34.15 → 31.00 → 30.70 → 28.37. Four for four.
🔹 Konnor Henry went slower at Meets 3 and 4 and kept showing up anyway. Saturday he broke 27 seconds for the first time: 26.49.
🔹 William Harvey has dropped time every time he's swum this race: 30.59 → 28.59 → 26.33.
🔹 Bentley Maxwell opened this season at 1:18.51. He's now more than thirty seconds faster.
🔹 Hugo Magdaleno (58.29) and Anders Amran (36.91) raced for the very first time. Getting on the blocks that first time is the hardest thing in this sport.

🏊 THE INSTRUCTORS RACE — Meet 6, 2026

Once a year the whistles get put down, the clipboards get handed off, and our instructors have to climb up on the blocks and do the exact thing they've been asking your kids to do all summer.

They delivered.

Lucas Colon took it wire to wire in 17.68 — and dropped time doing it (old best 18.00).
Ian Dimas right behind him at 18.97, a personal best of his own (19.38).
Eric Johnson third across in 21.33.
Turner Johnson brought it home at 23.08.
And Andy Olson got in for her very first race ever — 22.54 on debut. Not bad for a rookie.

Two of our instructors swam personal bests in a race that doesn't even count for anything. That tells you a lot about the people teaching your kids.

🏊‍♂️ FIFTY YEARS OF DADS ON THE BLOCKS

For half a century, we've closed out our swim season the same way: we hand the pool over to the parents and let the kids do the cheering for once.

This year, eleven dads lined up for the 40-yard freestyle across two heats. Nine of them had never raced it before.

And one of those nine nearly made history. Alan Shaw went 19.61 — first time on the blocks, ever — finishing just 1.08 seconds off a meet record that's stood since 2024. That record belongs to Dominik Meichtry, a three-time Swiss Olympian, at 18.53. It survived. Barely.

Behind him, Julian Harvey took 2nd at 21.81, and Jon Sprekelmeyer rounded out the podium at 23.33 — also his first time in the event.

Fifty years of dads climbing up there in front of their kids and finding out what they've got left. Some things are worth keeping.

Eleven moms. Two heats. One Olympian hiding in Lane 4 👀

Jessica Meichtry — better known as Team USA's Jessica Hardy — went 19.87 to set the Moms' Race record at our final meet of 2026.

But every mom on that block won something. 💙To every mom who climbed onto that block with her kids watching — that's the whole point of this place.

What a way to wrap up the season! 🏊‍♂️💨

Our final meet of the year was one for the books, and these 3 & 4-year-old boys brought huge energy to the pool for Event 4 (20 Free)! Every single one of these little swimmers gave it their all, and we couldn’t be prouder of their growth and confidence in the water.

A huge congratulations to Xander Killin for touching the wall at 35.00 and setting a NEW RECORD! 🏆🔥

End of summer feelings! 🏊‍♂️✨ Today is our LAST swim meet of the summer season at Blue Buoy Family Swim School!

We are so proud of all our swimmers who built confidence, learned vital water safety skills, and mastered new strokes with us this year. Seeing those smiles in the pool every day is why we do what we do! 💙

Thank you to all our incredible families for making this season so unforgettable. Have a wonderful rest of your summer, and we can’t wait to see you back in the water next season!
