PARA to Host Glow Party Extravaganza and Backpack Giveaway
The Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA) will host a Back-to-School Glow Party Extravaganza and backpack giveaway for children ages 5-12 years old at the Bobby Miller Activity Center from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8.
The Bobby Miller Activity Center is located at 300 Bobby Miller Parkway in Tuscaloosa.
Admission for members is $10 and nonmembers cost $15. These registration fees will increase after July 31.
Late registration begins Aug. 1, and the price will increase by $5. Members will be $15 and nonmembers will be $20.
Kids can enjoy pizza, music, glow activities, an indoor playground and a gumball inflatable. They can also participate in a drawing for a backpack and school supplies. Kids are encouraged to wear neon colors.
Bobby Miller Activity Center Manager Lillie Leatherwood said there will be fun activities and games for kids.
โThey can expect an evening filled with glow-themed fun,โ Leatherwood said. โAlso, the opportunity for kids to win backpacks filled with school supplies.โ
Leatherwood hopes the backpacks and supplies help children look forward to starting a new school year.
PARA hosted a similar glow-themed event last September, but Leatherwood wanted to incorporate a backpack giveaway for students during this yearโs party.
โIf we can put a smile on the faces and set the students up, I think we have accomplished what we set out to do,โ Leatherwood said.
