On the opening day of the 2024 Golf season, the June family held their annual fundraising tournament in the morning. The tournament benefits athletes at Tunkhannock and Trail. Coach B. Sick had an incredible day, hitting the pot of gold... well, actually sharing the pot of gold with the infamous, Mr Neary, and winning a Ping driver, in the raffle.

The luck, well, skill continued in the afternoon at the first team practice of the year when Coach T. Sick hit his first hole-in-one on #3 at Shadowbrook showing the young golfers how to get it done. This is the same hole where his momma hit hers, nine years before. 🧡

Obviously, I cant keep up with a page and coach three golf teams at the same time. However, as I sit here at the Graduate Hotel in State College, waiting for my little cherubs to come downstairs for breakfast before Hallie and Jackie hit the links at the State Championships I thought I'd look back through my photos and post a little about the season. Here goes...

I launched this page a year ago, and though I haven’t been consistent in updating it, I intend to improve moving forward.. fingers crossed. 🤞😁 Here's a summary of the season so far:

The boys' varsity team currently holds a 0-2 record. In their season opener at Fox Hill, they were defeated by Pittston Area, 164-188. Key contributors for the Tigers were Senior Caleb Georgetti, Sophomore Mason Berkheimer, Aidan Mislevy, and Senior Jack Welles. Their second match, a closely contested home game against Dallas, ended in a narrow 169-174 loss, with scores from Georgetti, Mislevy, Berkheimer, and Welles.

The girls' varsity team has had a strong start, boasting a 3-0 record though rain put a halt to their first match against Elk Lake at Tall Pines in, Friendsville. Make up date TBA. The Lady Tigers' first victory came against Abington at Glen Oak, with a score of 130-149. Senior Hallie Brown, Freshman Madison Walker, and Senior Megan Rickaby were instrumental in securing the win, with Brown earning medalist honors after shooting a 5-over-par 40. The Lady Tigers continued their success at Marjon in Mt. Cobb, defeating Dunmore 126-187. Brown again led the charge as medalist, shooting even par on the par 37 course, with additional contributions from Seniors Jackie Martin and Megan Rickaby. In their home opener, the Lady Tigers triumphed over Abington, 123-148. Hallie Brown once again set the pace with a 2-under-par 35, highlighted by an impressive eagle on the 9th hole, leading the team to victory.

The Junior High team also had a successful outing, defeating Abington 151-185. Eighth grader Chad Corby emerged as the medalist with a score of 45, supported by strong performances from Blyane Roosa and Noah Fry.

Both the boys' and girls' varsity teams are scheduled to compete in the Tryba Tournament, the annual Wyoming Valley League season opener, at Fox Hill on Monday, August 19th, weather permitting.

Let's start from the beginning. How do you become a Tiger Golfer?

Tryouts/Practice August 7, 8 & 9
Shadowbrook Golf Course

The skill level of golfers significantly affects how much time a round of golf takes to complete. Golfers must maintain a skill level in keeping with the pace of play necessary not to slow down others on the course. A try-out process is needed to keep the number of golfers manageable and the skill level acceptable for playing on a privately owned golf course.

Grades 7 & 8
There are no tryouts for 7th & 8th grade. All 7th & 8th graders will be eligible to play on the junior high team. 7th and 8th graders will use the first three days of the season as an intense practice.

Grade 9
9th-grade students will participate in the tryout process of 36 holes over three days. The total strokes of the 36 holes must be 220 or less to make the varsity or junior varsity team. Students shooting over 220 are eligible to play on the junior high team.

Grades 10-12
10th - 12th grade students will participate in the tryout process of 36 holes over three days. The total strokes of the 36 holes must be 220 or less to make the varsity or jr varsity team.
