Motivation for your Monday morning.

Well I just had a baby... It’s been a tough year...Work has been crazy...The kids just need me so much right now.

EVERYONE needs to hear me when I say this. Your body is something to be celebrated NOT justified. You don’t have to give excuses on why you aren’t feeling as good in your skin. S**t happens, heck LIFE happens and sometimes we don’t feel 100% but your body is beautiful no matter the shape and size. So the next time you feel the need to justify it with an excuse, stop yourself and try to think of all the amazing ways your body showed up for you recently. Maybe it was carrying your 1 year old twins on your hip through the zoo, lifting those file boxes over your head when you were organizing your office, picking up your 80 lb lab because he was too tired to get upstairs. Other people shouldn’t control how you see yourself. You are BEAUTIFUL and STRONG no matter the phase of your life and it’s time to celebrate that.

Rest day.
Some things to remember on the days your body tells you to rest.
—
1. Hydrate. Drink plenty of water to replenish all that the week took from you.
2. Light stretching. Give your body the TLC it needs by stretching out your sore muscles, but don’t make this a workout.
3. Eat good food. Make sure to stay away from refined sugars and carbs that don’t bring anything to the table. Nourish your body from the inside out.
4. Relax. Period.

No matter if you’re stuck at home or just have a schedule that requires you to forgo the gym and get sweaty in your living room. Getting and staying active doesn’t have to be fancy. You don’t need a $3,000 piece of equipment. All you need is your capable body and the determination to get healthy. Here’s Christian hitting our Wednesday workout in her living room! She’s a badass!

It’s so easy to let the negativity seep into the spaces between your motivation and discipline. “What am I even doing this for?” “I’ll never look, perform, weigh... that.” Listen. No med student ever quit because they weren’t a doctor a day after their first class, so why do you think health and fitness should be automatic and overnight?

Health and fitness comes from a consistent active life and healthy eating routine. The changes aren’t drastic and you probably won’t even notice them but they are happening. EVERY day you make the decision to invest in you is another day in med school, investing in your future. Don’t compare and for goodness sakes, don’t quit. You can do this. You Can.
