Today's Breed & Discipline spotlight is on the Palomino, represented at by Palomino Horse Breeders of America.
Palominos stand out in a show ring and are much sought after as parade horses. They were particularly popular in movies and television during the 1940s and 1950s. Famous palomino horses include Trigger, known as "the smartest horse in movies" and the mount of Hollywood cowboy star Roy Rogers; Mister Ed, who starred on his own TV show in the 1960s; and Tilly, who played Xena's horse Argo on "Xena: Warrior Princess" from 1995–2001.
Palomino Horse Breeders of America (PHBA) was formed in 1941 with a mission to record and preserve the pedigree of the Palomino horse while maintaining the integrity of the breeds, as well as to provide to services to enhance and encourage Palomino ownership and participation.
