A little history and a whole lot of rhythm! 🪘
Manjani is a high-energy dance and rhythm rooted in the traditions of the Malinke people of Guinea and Mali. Traditionally connected to coming-of-age celebrations for young girls, it symbolizes purity, growth, and the transition into young womanhood.
These celebrations brought the entire village together. The young girls were carried into the village square, welcomed by the drummers, and honored through music, movement, and community celebration.
Today, Manjani continues to be performed as a joyful social dance filled with vibrant movement, powerful rhythms, and plenty of energy!
This is what it looks like when history, culture, and joy meet on the dance floor. 🪘
Come experience the rhythm for yourself!
