If you look at a trail map for AEDC there is an inner loop that is marked Bob’s (for Bob Ault) Trail. Found the saddle bag along the northern part of the loop. Where you enter the trail system from the parking lot there is a covered table (Eagle Scout project). Left the bag on that table.

Yesterday on Christmas Eve, Dan Johnson accompanied by Jonathon Owens, Sam Cataldo, Josh Boone, and Curtis Brewer rode a 50 mile loop down thru Moore County. However, about 2 miles from the finish Dan collapsed on his bike crashing hard onto the road. The other cyclists immediately began CPR for 20 minutes until the ambulance arrived. Jonathon told me they thought he had started breathing again but not for a few seconds at a time. By the time they got him to the hospital there wasn't much they could do and he had passed away.
I personally had recently seen Dan at Planet Fitness and he was always the picture of health and vitality. Dan had been a long time HRBC Board member tirelessly serving to make the club and ERV100 better. I'll never forget his cycling trivia contests where the winner would receive a huge candy bar! I always appreciated Dan's candid evaluations of club proceedings that gave me another prospective. He will be missed greatly not only by our cycling club but also by his wife Valinda, family, and friends. When his arrangements are settled, I will pass them along as I'm sure many members will want to pay their respects. Thanks, Hunter Norris, President
