June Taylor's School of Dance Bringing the love of dance to students of all ages in the Greater Portland Area since 1984. Classes are available in ballet, jazz, tap and pilates.

Ever since June Taylor-Dixon first opened her doors in 1984, June Taylor's School of Dance has been dedicated to bringing the joy of dance and the performing arts to the greater Portland area. June Taylor-Dixon's carefully selected teacher faculty is accredited with extensive training as well as professional dancing and teaching experience. They teach with the proven syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.), a special teaching method developed with the knowledge of children’s developmental stages. This allows young dancers to progress at a rate to which their bodies can safely grow and improve. June Taylor School of Dance offers classes for dancers of every age and technical background. She welcomes beginners from ages three to adult as well as professionals. All classes are devoted to nurturing the talent of each individual dancer. Students are given the opportunity to perform and grow artistically in a safe, fun and professional setting. June Taylor’s School of Dance is also the home of Northwest Dance Theatre, a non-profit dance company that gives pre-professional dancers the opportunity to perform in the greater Portland area. Have a ball while you stretch! 

Our NEW Adult Yoga Ball Stretch class begins September 7 and continues throughout the season!

Come try it FREE during our first two weeks: Sept. 7, 9, 14 & 16. After that, regular classes continue!

Inspired by Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) and taught by our certified PBT instructor, this low-impact class builds flexibility, core strength, posture and balance while helping release muscle tension.

 All experience levels are welcome.

The End of summer arrived!

From hosting the Royal Academy of Dance Continuing Professional Development Course for Grades 6 & 7, also including Pointe Observation Classes featuring our Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 & 2 students, to a magical Princess Camp filled with princesses, dancing, crafts and FUN—it’s been a busy few months!

Our dancers also enjoyed our one-week Junior Intensive and two-week Senior Intensive, learning, growing and making memories with an incredible lineup of instructors. 

And JTSD reached far beyond our studio walls! Once again, our costumes traveled all the way to South Africa for Ballet Through Borders, a wonderful project led by two sisters, a JTSD alumna and current dancer , helping share the joy of ballet with young dancers on another continent.

We ended the summer with some VERY exciting alumni news: congratulations to Charlotte Parry, who has been accepted into Utah Metropolitan Ballet!  We are so proud to see another JTSD dancer take her training onto the professional stage.

Junior Intensive 2026
One week. So much dancing. So many memories! 

Our 2026 JTSD Junior Intensive gave our younger dancers a week to learn, explore, make friends and HAVE FUN!

They enjoyed Ballet with June Taylor-Dixon & Debbie Randell, Character with Rebecca Hasler, Jazz with Kim Schroeder, Hip Hop with Liz Aguila, Musical Theater with Lisa Alison, and Acting with Caleb—with our wonderful senior student Valerie Smith assisting throughout the entire week. 

But an intensive is about more than classes. It’s about building confidence, trying new things, making friendships, supporting one another and feeling part of a dance community where everyone belongs. 

We are so proud of our dancers for the enthusiasm, kindness and energy they brought to the studio—and so thankful to our amazing faculty for making the week so special.

Lots of learning + lots of laughter = one unforgettable Junior Intensive!

Ballet intensives outside of JTSD 2026:

JTSD dancers are shining across America! 

This summer, three of our dancers stepped outside their comfort zones and embraced incredible training opportunities across the country.

Cate attended the Idaho Ballet Academy Summer Intensive in Idaho.
Teddy trained at Ballet Austin’s Summer Intensive in Texas.
Valerie attended the Royal Ballet School Summer Intensive in California.

Each dancer returned home with new inspiration, new friendships, and unforgettable memories. Training with new teachers and dancers from across the country (and sometimes even around the world!) is an incredible opportunity for artistic growth, confidence, and personal development.

We couldn’t be prouder of Cate, Teddy, and Valerie for representing JTSD with such dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm. Your dance family is cheering you on every step of the way!

That’s a wrap on our 2025–26 Alumni Connect series! 

We’re closing out this season with updates from two wonderful JTSD alumni—Catherine from the University of Oregon and Lauren from American University. 
Catherine recently completed her junior year at the University of Oregon, where she is studying Human Physiology on the pre-PA track. Although college keeps her busy, she continues to make time for ballet and modern classes whenever she can. One of the joys of having Catherine close to home is that she often returns to dance with her longtime friends—whether stepping back into the studio at JTSD or joining Northwest Dance Theatre productions. It’s always a pleasure to welcome her back!

Lauren has just finished her freshman year at American University, where she is majoring in Data Science for Justice, Law, and Criminology. This spring, she once again performed with Artists United in Motion (AUIM), the university’s student-run dance organization. Beyond performing, AUIM has given Lauren the opportunity to build lasting friendships and a wonderful community through dance—proving that a love of dance continues long after graduation.

To all of our JTSD alumni, thank you for allowing us to celebrate your journeys this year. Watching you grow as dancers, students, professionals, and people has been an incredible joy, and we can’t wait to see where your paths lead next.
