🥋 INTERESTED IN TRAINING WITH US?
Our 4th Quarter New Student Meeting is coming up:
📅 Sunday, September 27
⏰ 10:00–11:00 AM
At Valor & Virtue Martial Arts Academy, enrollment is a process.
We don't offer trial classes or ask prospective students to simply "jump in and see if they like it." Before Tryouts, we want prospective students and families to understand what we teach, why we teach it, what we expect, and what they can expect from us.
The enrollment process consists of:
1️⃣ Class Observation — See our training in action.
2️⃣ 1-on-1 Consultation — Meet with Sensei and ask questions.
3️⃣ New Student Meeting — Learn about our program, expectations, and values.
4️⃣ Tryouts — Demonstrate effort, attitude, and coachability.
The New Student Meeting is required before beginning Tryouts, so if you have been considering training with us—either for yourself or your child—now is the time to begin the process.
Our program is built around three disciplines:
Character Development. Physical Fitness. Martial Arts.
And one mission:
Develop Character. Ensure Survival. Forge Success.

Every year, we remember.

343 firefighters.
60 police officers.
8 EMTs and paramedics.
Nearly 3,000 lives lost.

Our annual 9/11 Memorial Workout is not about a score, a time, or how much weight is on the bar.

It is about remembering.

It is about honoring those who ran toward danger when others were trying to escape it.

It is about sacrifice, duty, courage, and service to others—values that should never be forgotten.

This year, our students once again completed 343 repetitions:

🇺🇸 100 Deadlifts
🇺🇸 100 Power Cleans
🇺🇸 100 Power Snatches
🇺🇸 43 Burpees

343 repetitions in remembrance of the 343 FDNY firefighters who gave their lives on September 11, 2001.

We train because greater ability brings greater responsibility.

We remember because their sacrifice deserves to be remembered.

Never Forget. 🇺🇸

🥋 We don't just say, “Hit the target.”

There is a difference between giving students something to do and teaching them how to do it well.

Range. Coverage. Control. Getting in. Getting out.

Understanding not only what to do, but why and how to do it correctly.

First, we teach. Then we demonstrate. Then students practice, receive feedback, make corrections, and try again.

That's coaching.

And that's how we train at Valor & Virtue.

Our 4th Quarter enrollment process is now underway, leading to our next New Student Meeting on Sunday, September 27.

It takes two.

Partner training is about much more than hitting a focuser.

One student is developing timing, precision, focus, and control.

The other has a responsibility too—to stay engaged, communicate, provide a good target, and help their partner improve.

Then they switch.

That relationship is part of what makes martial arts training so valuable.

Students learn that improvement isn't always something we pursue alone.

Sometimes we get better because someone else challenges us—and sometimes it's our responsibility to help someone else get better.

Build timing. Develop control. Sharpen focus. Get better. Together.

Leadership doesn't begin when someone is given a title.

It begins when they choose to serve others.

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching experienced students take responsibility for helping those who are just beginning. Whether they're counting repetitions, offering encouragement, or leading by example, they're learning that leadership is about lifting others up.

At Valor & Virtue Martial Arts Academy, we believe that students don't just grow individually—they grow together.

Those who learn...

Help others learn.

And through those moments of service, encouragement, and responsibility, character is built.

One rep at a time.

Staying calm under pressure is a skill.

In sparring, students have to think, react, adapt, and make decisions while facing something unpredictable.

They won’t always succeed.

They won’t always respond perfectly.

But that’s part of the training.

They learn to face challenges instead of avoiding them. To adjust when something doesn’t work. To persevere when things become difficult. And, little by little, to become more confident in what they are capable of.

We’re not simply teaching students how to punch, kick, or defend themselves.

We’re giving them opportunities to practice facing pressure — and learning how to respond.

One challenge at a time.

Strength is built.
Discipline is developed.
Confidence is earned.

At Valor & Virtue Martial Arts Academy, training is about more than learning techniques.

Every challenge students face in the dojo is an opportunity to grow — physically, mentally, and personally.

Through structured training, students learn how to:
🥋 Embrace challenges
🥋 Follow instruction
🥋 Persevere when things get difficult
🥋 Build confidence through achievement

The goal is not simply to create better martial artists.

The goal is to help students become stronger, more confident, and more capable individuals — inside and outside the dojo.

🇺🇸 "INDEPENDENCE DAY" TRIBUTE WORKOUT 🇺🇸

Every year, our dojo comes together on Independence Day for more than just a workout.

We gather to remember that the freedoms we enjoy today were secured through the courage, sacrifice, and service of generations of Americans.

No workout can compare to those sacrifices, but it can serve as a small act of gratitude—a chance to challenge ourselves, support one another, and reflect on the privilege of living in freedom.

Today we trained with purpose.

We honored freedom.

We remembered.

Thank you to everyone who joined us.

Happy Independence Day from the Valor & Virtue family. 🇺🇸
