This past weekend furnished sport of the finest order at the Copper City Classic. Your own Bisbee Black Sox took the field in four stout contests and came away with a noble record of three victories and one drawn match, having bested the Tucson Saguaros Vintage Baseball, the Tombstone Base Ball Club, and the Mesa Miners in gallant fashion.

In the final contest, the Black Sox met the formidable Bisbee Copper Queens Base Ball Club, and after seven innings of brave and spirited play, the match was called with the score even at ten runs apiece. Victory is ever a pleasing thing, yet there is a higher satisfaction still in crossing bats with one’s friends and worthy compatriots.

To all the clubs who made such splendid sport of the occasion, we offer three hearty cheers:

Step back in time and witness the grand old game in its purest form.

The 16th annual Copper City Classic returns to the historic grounds of Warren Ballpark for two fine days of base ball as it was played in the 1860s.

April 11–12, 2026
10 AM - 5 PM
Clubs from around Arizona shall take the field in spirited contest.

Opening Day against the Mesa Miners and Copper State Vintage Base Ball Association opper State Vintage Base Ball Association Nine proved a stout commencement to the season. The field lay in prime condition, the air calm and steady, and the contest carried itself with proper vigor befitting the old game.

⚾️🧢 This past weekend at Reid Park in Tucson, Arizona, the clouds themselves showed proper respect for the Opening Day of vintage base ball. The Arizona Vintage Base Ball League was able to commence its noble pastime unhindered!

Our beloved Bisbee Black Sox took to the green, squaring off first against the stalwart Copper State Nine and later the hard-swinging Mesa Miners. Fine sport was had by all, with spirited play, gentlemanly conduct, and no small amount of derring-do upon the diamond.

A tip of the cap to every club and spectator who made this opening contest a triumph. We extend our gratitude to the arbitrators who called honest games, Reid Park for hosting us on their fields, and of course the fair city of Tucson. Huzzah for the grand old game—may the season ahead be as bright as a well-struck ball sailing toward the far reaches of the outfield! ⚾️🧢

Well folks, it's that time- the Vintage Base Ball season is officially kicking off. Saturday November 15th we bring history to life. Join us at Gene Reid Park in Tucson for a day of family-friendly fun! ⚾️💥

**Rain is possible, and the city may close the fields. We’ll share the final call the morning of the event so everyone knows whether play can proceed.**
