Chopper this, chopper that! Here’s who really invented the chopper drop: Hungarian designer Paul Jaray, in 1921, with his J-Rad (!!) bicycle. Looking for an aerodynamic riding position, this recumbent (feet-forward) bicycle used a treadle-cable drive instead of pedals, but its unusual design ensured only about 2000 were built. Jaray went on to design car bodies for Tatra and many other manufacturers. Say it again: J-Rad. [📸 Wikipedia]
