On A Whim Farm Eventing, dressage, show jumping and Cross Country! Lisa Brunner has owned and operated On A Whim Farm from 1997 to present.

She is also the current USEA Area X Chair and the treasurer for Grass Ridge Equestrian Foundation. In January of 2008 Lisa moved On A Whim Farm over to River Valley Ranch, recognizing the value of having a cross country schooling course on the property. As an event rider with 30+ years in the industry, she teaches dressage, show jumping and cross country. Lisa has competed through the Preliminar

y level and has taken clinics, with Buddy Brown, David O’Conner, Ann Kursinsky, Gwen Stockelbran, Kathleen Zins and several other clinicians, believing that riding is a continuing education sport for trainers as well as students. Her emphasis is on teaching her students and their horses the basic skills of riding, including proper balance, straightness and forward movement. Lisa teaches her students to build on the basics of riding which allows them to move up the levels. She also stresses the importance of proper horse care and communication between horse and rider, on the ground and in the saddle. Her favorite saying is "Communicate with your horse in a way that he/she can understand you." Her students are always in the ribbons and have won several Area X year end awards such as Beginner Novice, Novice and Training horse of the year! School horses are available on a limited basis. I am a competitive person and I like to win. However, I think I am particularly talented at losing. For me, being a good loser means that you can maintain a sense of perspective and still be a fun, positive person to be around all weekend.

"Zero riders made the time, 22 riders jumped clear, 12 riders completed with one or more refusals, 25 riders were eliminated on cross country, 18 riders retired on cross country and five withdrew before cross country. While the course rode very tough, all horses and riders walked away with any serious injuries, mercifully"

Does your horse have a ritual when he or she rolls? Peanut does! It is the same EVERY time he rolls whether he is in his stall or out in the paddock. First he makes a nice soft spot and then spins around and around and around and then he rolls on one side and then spins some more and then down on the other side, a good shake and RUN!! This is just so sad :( Even with the best of care, you just never know when they are going to the Rainbow Bridge. Many condolences to Marilyn Little and the team that cared for and loved RF Smoke On The Water.
