From Japan to Tucson
Blackbird Martial arts brings three unique styles to Tucson: Shinpi Karasu Ryu Karate, Shindo Muso Ryu Jojutsu, and Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu swordsmanship. The karate style is in the category of “gendai budo” or modern martial arts. It contains traditional elements of Okinawan and Japanese Karate, and is heavily influenced by Japanese Jujutsu. Shindo Muso Ryu and Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu are both “koryu bujutsu.” These arts are more than 400 years old and exemplify the heart and soul of Japan’s warrior class. Jojutsu is the study of the 50 1/4” staff, and Eishin Ryu is the study of the Japanese samurai sword.
Each of these styles requires precision and passion, but they are all rewarding studies for those who wish to understand both the classical and modern applications of the Japanese arts. Honestly, they are not for tourists. Diligent effort is required. But if you are looking for a deep study in this field, I believe we can supply you amply with sufficient study for years to come.
