VA Footy, with the support of Footy 5000, is growing local "footy pods" across VA, with plans to continue to grow Aussie Rules "footy" across the Commonwealth of Virginia. ( see: www.AFL.com.au + https://womens.afl/ )
The blueprint for VA footy includes building toward a statewide VA "metro-league" (12-15 players per side) ... to involve teams from VA's regional centers - including Norfolk/Hampt
onRoads, Richmond, Fredericksburg & Charlottesville (places where there already is developing interest) ... plus other places in future too as interest grows (... like Petersburg/Chester, Williamsburg/NewportNews - & Blacksburg, Harrisonburg, Lynchburg, Roanoke, VaBeach, etc)
.. from which we can build a competitive development squad of adult players (both men & women) - combining our regional powers as Virginia's "RVA Lions" ... unified rep/travel teams rep'ing our whole Commonwealth of Virginia in the national league - the USAFL - in its interstate fixtures, footy carnivals & tournaments

A great way for each of us to "kick off" locally and is with a low key social "kick to kick", maybe an occasional AFL game watchparty or two, &, as sufficient interest develops in each location we'll get casual "AFL Social" *coed* rec leagues going locally (6-11 players per side)

* We also plan to start regularly hosting kids "Auskick" clinics in Virginia by summer 2022 (- along similar lines of some of DC's "Washington Junior Footy" programs).
** There are opportunities too for those committed & sportingly-gifted & talented "lions" & "lionesses" among us to represent the country in our national squads - the USA Revolution (mens) & the USA Freedom (womens)
*** Of course right away, while we develop toward the above "master plan", ANYONE who is interested is welcome to be involved at whatever level they like - whether just as a social player, supporter or fan - or as a completely competitive beast trying out for the respective national rep teams ! ;)
