6 v 6 format on 25-30 yd wide x 50 yd long fields

NO pass rush, just a 4-6 second sack count.

Emphasis on the pass game and run game limitations.

9-12 player rosters so everyone plays every game!

Practices are held a hour before the games, optional practice/s outside of the game day practice

NO Tryouts. NO Drafts. Rosters are formed by "friend" or "coach" request. Single players will be placed on teams with some similarity and familiarity such as same school, neighborhood, organization, etc. as the other players on the team.

ALL coaches are volunteers and NOT provided by Under the Lights

K-2, 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 grade levels will have a team to represent our league in the Under Armour UTL National Championship!

It’s official, Under The Lights-Richmond will be taken over the Short Pump area on 4/22, 5/6, and 5/20 this spring season!! UTL families start making your Friday night plans as there are a ton of dinner and fun locations close by as this park is right across the street from Short Pump mall off Pump Rd, 2 miles off route 288 on the Broad St exit!!! So excited to be playing in Henrico this upcoming season!

A little over a week left to register for this upcoming Under The Lights-Richmond spring season!! Don’t forget about our new Pre K-K division, this division will focus a lot on the fundamentals of the game and development of these young athletes. We are also very close to having our first 7/8 grade level division this spring, so tell any youngsters (PreK-K) and 7-8 graders to lock in NOW!! The other three divisions (1-2, 3-4, and 5-6) are definitely going to be 🔥 🔥, just a warning, you better be prepared!!

So a few questions we have been getting for this upcoming spring season and the answers based on what we know to date…

Will there be a Henrico UTL, a Chesterfield UTL or just one league? The answer is we are UTL Richmond, one league. The plan is to play half the games in Chesterfield and half the games in Henrico (as one league). The goal is to have teams from all the Richmond surrounding counties (Chesterfield, Henrico, Midlothian, Chester, Richmond, etc) all playing in the same league against one another!! This will allow for more teams in each grade level division and the competition across counties is exciting! Field locations in both Chesterfield and Henrico will be released soon! We have requested locations as close to Interstate 288 for easy travel to and from field locations for all families.

What nights will games be on? Can we request to play on Fridays (the majority have asked)? As of right now, we will plan to play all games on Friday evenings. If needed, we will run four games at a time instead of three to make sure this can happen (PreK-4th grade divisions play on a 25x50 field and 5-8th grade divisions play on a 30x50 field…sideline to sideline). We are flexible and will do what’s best for the majority in the league, which based on feedback to date, Fridays it is.

What time will games be played and will they be at the same location? All games for all grade levels will be played at the same location every Friday night. The younger divisions play first and the older divisions play last (starting around 6-6:30 with last games starting around 8:30-8:45).

When will practices start and where? The plan is to start practicing the first or second week of March to get ready for the season beginning in April. Given the smaller roster sizes, the league allows the coaches to coordinate with their teams to set the day/s, location, and times that works best for their group for practices. There are no set locations or days/times for practices through the league. Again, we are flexible and allow the coaches and the families on each team to do what works best for them regarding practices.

Super excited for a GREAT spring season and expanding into the Henrico area to play some games this upcoming season!! Registration closes at the end of the month, so sign up before then please.

ATTENTION….calling all young athletes, grade levels Pre K-8th grade to come play Under The Lights this spring season!! We have our new grade level starting this spring, Pre K-K, so any youngsters/beginners looking to play with kids their own age/skill set and really build a strong foundation of the game, and learn the basic fundamentals, terminology, concepts of the game, but more importantly get the much needed game time reps along with it, we’d love to have you all. The other grade levels will be 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8! Games will be played on Thursdays and/or Fridays, we want to be as flexible as possible for the multiple sport athlete and/or the athlete who may play in other leagues on the weekend, we want you all to have the opportunity to do both!! We will have a very competitive league this spring season with lots of fun!!
