Our classes run the full spectrum of martial arts and focus more on real-life self-defense training rather than sport fighting and competition. Classes are a true mixed martial arts experience with techniques from Shotokan Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and more. You will learn kicks (front, round, side, etc.), strikes (punches, elbows, knees, etc.), grappling (armbar,
rear-naked choke, take-downs, mount escape, etc.), situational awareness and more. You will learn about martial art history and philosophy as well. Please keep in mind that to really become proficient in martial arts, as with any skill, takes years of hard work and dedication. Although we teach classes with the traditional emphasis on discipline, respect, and courtesy, we do not teach a strict “style”, wear the traditional Gi, or do a belt ranking system — because we have come to realize that a belt, regardless of color, is not a true reflection of one’s actual capabilities, that the individual is far more important than any belt color, and that true “style” is unique to the individual...it is something they must develop themselves while on the path to becoming a warrior. Instructor Jim Fulton is a certified black belt with over 20 years of experience in martial arts. He has studied and continues to study, a mix of Shotokan Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, etc. He is certified in the weapon "bo-staff" as well as proficient with Nunchaku (nunchucks) and others. He is also a former member of a martial arts demonstration team. His instruction has been under world champions and masters who have direct lineages dating back to the founders of their respective arts. Fulton's serious approach and dedication to training have led him to develop a deep understanding of both the physical, mental, and philosophical aspects of martial combat much like the old masters did before him. It is estimated that only 1 in 10,000 (1/100 of 1%) of everyone who starts martial arts ever continue their training long enough to attain instructor/master level. That 1 in 10,000 is your instructor Jim Fulton. When not teaching, studying, and practicing martial art, Jim enjoys hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, travel, singing/guitar, and studying different aspects of science, health, and God's creation. Fulton is the inventor of two self-defense weapons and recently published his first book on warrior mentality entitled "MUSINGS OF A WARRIOR MONK: Thoughts On Life And Martial Art" which is now available on Amazon!
