Sarah Halas has been teaching flying for 9 years and has provided over 1300 hours of flight instruction during that time. She was awarded a Gold Seal by the Federal Aviation Administration for teaching to such a high level that her students enjoy an exceptionally high first time pass rate on check rides. She has worked as an air ambulance and charter pilot, as well as for the scheduled airline Sur

Michael contacted me intending to earn his private pilot certificate. He started training, and at some point mentioned he wanted to learn to backcountry ski. He had never been ski touring before, but when I told him about the Ice Axe Expeditions Arctic Circle Ski and Sail, he decided there was no time like the present. We spent a few days working on his touring skills in Tahoe, then flew to Svalbard to start our trip. After a few days that included his first ski tour roped up and his first boot pack, Michael accomplished his goal of ski touring 4000 vertical feet in a day. He earned his Private Pilot certificate shortly after returning to the States. Pretty inspiring to see how someone like this makes his dreams reality. Looking forward to more adventures together!
