Some Halloween Safety Tips!

- Stay in well lit areas
- Go out in groups
- Only go to houses with their lights on
- Do not cross the street between cars
- Look both ways before crossing the street
- Keep a light on you as part of your costume
- Check your candy before eating

We had a great opportunity to host a Women's Self Defense this Sunday. A friend contacted us after the incident with the jogger in Tennessee to have a class, we were more than happy to oblige.

During our class, we emphasized awareness, de-escalation, keeping distances, as well as two way techniques (techniques that work either way). The intent is to keep it simple, don't over think a technique, just do.

I've seen this circulating around, and wanted to share. The original post came through as "Attention Ladies", but this is just good advice no matter who you are.

As you're approaching your car, keep your finger on your key-fob panic alarm. Don't be afraid to press it if you feel uncomfortable.

Also, as you are nearing your car, unlock the car. It'll light up the inside of your car as well as just around it to help make the surroundings visible.

With the recent tragedy of the jogger in Tennessee, we wanted to take a few minutes to share some simple safety tips. These tips aren't just for women, or joggers, they're for anyone who like to exercise outside

- Try to go out with a companion, there are strength in numbers.
- Be sure to go out during the day, avoid twilight and evening hours
- Make sure someone knows the route you take, and how long it takes you to complete that route. If you deviate from that route, alert that person.
- If you are out with your phone, turn on location services and share your location with someone
- If you're out with earbuds, either keep what you're listening low, use only 1 earbud, and/or make sure noise cancelation is off (transparency mode is preferred)

Always be alert and be aware of your surroundings!

On May 15th and 22nd, Mr Prendergast participated in Sexual Harassment and R**e Prevention (SHARP) training through Human Factors Reaearch Group (HFRG) and received his 3 year instructor certification.

SHARP is designed for both law enforcement as well as lay citizens who wish to become certified in self-defense. This 2 day course is divided into three crucial sections, including Personal & Professional Harassment, the Science of Prevention and, of course the hands-on methods of self-defense.
