☘️ Why Irish dance?

Because it’s about so much more than learning steps.

Irish dance helps students build confidence, develop discipline, improve coordination, form meaningful friendships, and discover what they can accomplish with practice and perseverance.

It offers connection—to teammates, to the community, and to a rich cultural tradition. Most importantly, it creates experiences and memories dancers can carry with them for a lifetime. 💗🖤

Whether your dancer is interested in recreation, performances, or competition, there is a place for them at McGovern Irish Dance.

Beginners are always welcome at our studios in Dayton, Troy, Lafayette, and Fort Wayne!

Take the first step at www.mcgoverndance.org.

✨ TUESDAY’S CHILD IS FULL OF GRACE ✨

And maybe a little bit of giggles, friendship, determination… and Irish dance. ☘️💗

There’s something pretty special about watching dancers learn together. One minute they’re concentrating on getting that step just right — and the next they’re laughing with the friend beside them.

At McGovern Irish Dance, we’re teaching Irish dance, but we’re also creating a place where kids can:

☘️ Build confidence
💗 Make real friendships
☘️ Learn discipline and perseverance
💗 Cheer each other on
☘️ And discover just how much they’re capable of

Some of the very best memories happen somewhere between the hop 2-3s, pointed toes, and “Can we do it one more time?” 🥰

Our new season is beginning, and beginners are always welcome. No Irish dance experience needed — just bring those dancing feet!

🌸 The Story of an Irish Dancer
Chapter 7 – Rosie Didn’t Win Today

Rosie stood with the other dancers and listened as the placements were announced.

One by one, the dancers who had placed were called onto the stage to receive their medals.

Rosie waited hopefully for her name.

But it wasn’t called.

She clapped for the other dancers and tried very hard not to cry.

She had practiced.
She had tried her best.
She had wanted to earn a medal so badly.

Miss Shelagh saw Rosie’s disappointment and knelt beside her.

“One competition never tells your whole story,” she said gently.

Rosie looked toward the stage. It still hurt—but Miss Shelagh’s words stayed with her.

One result could not erase every new step she had learned.

It could not erase the courage it took to compete.

And it could not decide what Rosie might accomplish next.

On the drive home, Rosie was quiet for a while.

Then she made a decision.

“I’m going to practice.”

Not because one result made her less of a dancer—but because she wasn’t finished growing.

Sometimes the most important victories happen after the medals are handed out.

They happen when a disappointed dancer dries her tears, believes in herself, and decides to try again.

💗 Every dancer will experience disappointment. What matters most is learning that one result is only one moment—not the end of their story.

🌸 Beginner classes are now enrolling.

Yes, adults really do Irish dance—and we have an incredible time doing it! ☘️💗

Our adult dancers learn together, laugh together and sometimes take the stage together. Some began dancing as children, some returned after many years away and others didn’t take their first Irish dance class until adulthood.

Different ages. Different experience levels. One wonderfully supportive team.

Adult classes are available at McGovern Irish Dance in Dayton, Troy, Lafayette and Fort Wayne. Beginners are always welcome!
