One of my favorite exercises is called Keep. Quit. Start.

It’s simple, but powerful.

If you want to create greater health, energy, and vitality, ask yourself:

What should I KEEP doing?
The habits, routines, and choices that are serving me well.

What should I QUIT doing?
The behaviors, commitments, or patterns that are draining my energy or pulling me away from my values and goals.

What should I START doing?
The small actions that would move me closer to the lifestyle I want to create.

We often think change requires a complete overhaul. More often, it requires a few small intentional adjustments.

A yellow light moment invites us to pause long enough to evaluate what belongs in our lives and what doesn’t. Today, take inventory. What is one thing you’re choosing to start, stop, or continue this season?

I Found a Yellow Light Moment: Jamaica Edition

One of the most fun surprises from our Jamaica trip started when I hid a copy of Yellow Light Moments for someone to find. A lovely couple from West Palm Beach found the book...and then they found ME!

I was in the spa booking a massage when they walked in, recognized me from my picture inside the book, and asked if I was the author. Definitely not what I was expecting while making a massage appointment!

What followed was such a fun conversation about where they found the book and the story behind Yellow Light Moments. Even better, we continued to run into each other throughout the vacation, stopping to chat each time.

And THIS is exactly why I love this little adventure. You never know what can happen when you slow down, look around, stay curious, and make room for an unexpected moment or connection.

Now the question is...where in the world will the next Yellow Light Moments book pop up?

A coffee shop? An airport? A beach? A park? Another country? Maybe somewhere a whole lot closer to home...

Keep your eyes open. You never know when a Yellow Light Moment might be waiting for you to find it.

In the chaos of everyday obligations, it’s easy to miss life’s quiet invitations. The ones that don’t ask us to accomplish anything, but simply invite us to notice, breathe, and be present.

Jamaica gave me those invitations everywhere.

Listening to the ocean with the warm breeze against my skin. Noticing the incredible detail of an island flower. Watching the sun slowly fall, turning the sky brilliant shades of orange. Lying in a hammock beneath the moon and stars, watching lightning from a far-off storm illuminate the night.

None of these moments were productive. And that was exactly the point.

We live in a world that celebrates movement, momentum, full calendars, and pushing through. But sometimes what we need most isn’t more movement. It’s stillness.

Something slower. Simpler. Beautiful. Something that reminds us who we are outside of our roles, responsibilities, and to-do lists.

That is soul care.

Jamaica reminded me that restoration rarely happens by accident. We have to create room for it. And while vacation makes that easier, I don’t want to believe I need a plane ticket, passport, and Caribbean beach to experience it.

Restoration doesn’t come through intensity. It comes through intentionality.

A few quiet minutes with a book. Morning coffee outside. A walk without headphones. Leaving space on the calendar and resisting the urge to fill it.

Small moments, practiced consistently, have a way of filling us back up.

Maybe the challenge isn’t simply to take more vacations. Maybe it’s to bring a little bit of vacation home.

Jamaica gave me beautiful Yellow Light Moments, but the greater lesson is learning to recognize them when there isn’t an ocean in front of me.

Let the little things lead you back to what matters most.

I’m excited to share that Life at Pancake Rocks and Jennie Phillips Coaching have teamed up to record a special four-part podcast series focused on living well while navigating chronic disease. 2 sessions were recorded earlier. 2 more today!!

Throughout the series, we’ll explore the four pillars of Vitality:

SLEEP — Why rest and recovery matter, and how chronic illness can change what “enough” looks like.

SELF-CARE — Moving beyond the idea that self-care is selfish or indulgent and learning to recognize what your body, mind, and energy truly need.

NUTRITION — Using food to support energy, strength, recovery, and overall well-being without chasing perfection.

MOVEMENT — Rethinking exercise when your energy, symptoms, or abilities may change from one day to the next.

Living with chronic disease often requires us to listen differently, adjust expectations, and make intentional choices based on what our bodies are telling us today.

That’s where the Yellow Light Moment comes in.

Pause. Pay attention. Ask what you need. Then choose how to move forward.

We can’t wait to share these conversations with you and offer practical tools, encouragement, and a reminder that vitality isn’t about doing everything. It’s about learning how to support yourself well in the life you’re living.

Stay tuned for all four podcast episodes!
