Recently, I’ve had multiple players I’ve coached and current players I train reach out to me. Just to say hey, ask for advice, pick my brain, show me some clips of their seasons, even to attend some upcoming games. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing I’ve had a positive impact in their lives. It is truly an amazing feeling.
I also received a message letting me know one of the players I trained was recently murdered. I’ve talked to my wife a few times about this as it has weighed heavy on me. This is not a message about me being down on myself. This is a reminder to myself and to all those who are in positions where people count on and look up to you, to remember why you are, who you are! People count on you and look up to you for a reason and that is a blessing. Yes it’s draining. Yes it’s difficult and you will not always see the fruitfulness of your deeds. The mission is to pay it forward. Pass on the knowledge and keys to success and do so with a humble grateful heart.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. To The Movement ITPA family, stay the path. Stay focused. Stay locked in. Water takes the path of least resistance. It’s so easy to give up. It’s easy to get into trouble. It’s hard doing the work. But what lies ahead is greatness. Keep doing the work. Keep being great. And keep letting me know about your greatness because it definitely makes me proud.
