Finally got the speed back in the TQ at Rushville last night…

Qualifying: 5th of 17
Heat: 4th-1st
Feature: 2nd-2nd

The night started with a makeup feature from July 4th and we rolled off 6th. Got shuffled back a bit with just no where to go on a fresh surface. Ended up getting back by a few cars to finish where we started.

Brad Wilson, David Wickman, Dad and I fought keeping the rear tires on the ground all night. We couldn’t get through the holes like everyone else all day but we got it figured out for the feature. In the main I got out to a pretty good lead, caught lap traffic about lap 15 and saw wasn’t really gaining on them as much as I was earlier. I started searching and just not running perfect laps and got passed with a few to go.

Definitely a bummer, we were so close to getting another win. A big thanks to Josh Petry for letting me come race and everyone on the team who helps us bring a fast race car !

Capped off a pretty awesome weekend at Millstream…

Qualifying: 9th out of 27
Heat: 1st - 1st
Feature: 1st - 1st

Still a little behind with our qualifying speed but that plays in favor with the invert in our series. Luckily I was able to drive away from a pretty stacked group of cars in the heat. Drew the pole for the feature and got a good jump to clear Dylan into 1. Ran 25 hard laps on a pretty gnarly curb and grabbed another win !

Dad’s had the Lynk dialed in as of recent, it’s definitely been a team effort. The track crew gave us an awesome surface and we had a lot of fun this weekend. Back to the lead in points with 3 races left this season.

A huge thanks to Kyle Heitmeyer and Hietmeyer Concrete for adding a little bonus money! It’ll help us replace our radiator and rear caliper.

We visit Circle City Raceway September 19th with the midget. We may jump in a TQ next weekend at Rushville. Hope to keep the ball rolling !

Won the heat and drew the pole for the feature. See if we can get another one this weekend !

Winners again at Moler with the USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets!

Qualifying : 4th of 26
Heat : 2nd-1st
Feature : 2nd-1st

The night started a little rough, we had absolutely zero brakes in practice. Thanks to Chuck Taylor and Tyler Nelson Racing we were able to get everything working good enough to make it through the night. I went out for the heat just hoping they were going to work and luckily they did and we were able to cruise to a win in that.

I brought my good luck charm Destiny Ford to the track this week and she drew me a #2 starting spot which set us up perfectly for the main. Dad had the car perfect for the feature and gave me the ability to run 25 hard laps around the top to get the win!

Huge thanks to Brad at Lucky 7 Technologies for the quick turnaround on our new shock. Make sure to check him out, there’s no one better to work with!

We are at Millstream Speedway tonight for our first double header of the year. If you’re close make sure to come out!

Not an amazing weekend for us…

Friday at Bloomington in the TQ started alright. Qualified 2nd out of 17. Went 5th to 1st in the heat and lined up 5th in the feature. Didn’t expect the moisture to return like it did and had it way too tight. I was fighting trying to get it to turn enough without picking up the left rear but I just struggled. Ended up 7th.

Saturday we ran Lawrenceburg Speedway in the midget and it went a little better. We tried a different gear to start the day and didn’t have enough center off. 9th quick out of 26 in qualifying. Ran 2nd in the heat until I smoked a hole with 2 to go. Started 11th in the feature and made it up to 3rd pretty quickly. Tried something on a late race restart hoping to mix it up with the leaders and that did not work. Ended up P4. Still having issues with the left side axle nut, about came off again. We also found we need more travel in the right rear shock, the car hasn’t been taking the ruts quite like we’d like it. Some things to hopefully make us better.

I didn’t do my job very well this weekend, just felt a little off every time I hit the track. A big thanks to Josh and Brad for having faith in me with the TQ and dad for his patience as well. Two shows next weekend in the midget, we closed in pretty good in the points battle so hopefully we can take advantage.

Thank you to all of our partners, hopefully we’ll have some good finishes to round out the year!

Our family is saddened to hear of the passing of Ellis Shell. Ellis gave us the opportunity to wheel his Eagle Chassis house cars for a few seasons back in the quarter midget days. We won some big races and beat a lot of good cars. Ellis was everyone’s friend and offered a hand to anyone in need, simply a kind and happy soul. We are very grateful for the time we shared. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Rebecca during this difficult time.

Wild Night at Montpelier Motor Speedway last night…

Qualifying: 3rd/34
Heat: 4th-1st
Feature: 6th-2nd

The night started off pretty cool. Got settled into second in the heat when the leader spun right in front of us. Knocked him back straight and we had to go to the back. Had four laps to get back to 2nd to get into the redraw so I put it up top and drove all the way to back to win.

Feature was going well for a while too. First few laps consisted of two car sliders and guessing where everyone else was going to go. Sorted out in 2nd and rode there for a while. Found a spot where I was better and we drove by the leader but a caution came out immediately after. Had to give the spot back and we showed him exactly where he needed to be. Couldn’t get another run good enough to do anything and was content with P2 until the leader’s car had battery issues into turn 1 on the last lap and we about crashed twice. We both almost stalled our cars into turn 3 and I got beat to the line by a half car length by the third place car.

Crazy ending and I felt we had two shots to win, just couldn’t make it happen. Our car is fast and we are having fun so no complaints. We aren’t going to be able to make it to New Hampshire due to entry date requirements, so our next race will be at Lawrenceburg Speedway August 22nd!
