Elk Meadows Ranch, founded in 1948 by Edna "Ma" Hill and her family. It started with the dream of seeing the majestic elk from her kitchen window. In 1961 she was highly instrumental along with the Noxon Rod and Gun club in obtaining and transplanting the first herd of 32 Elk from Yellowstone Park, those elk were planted on this very ranch. "Ma" was a very successful guide and outfitter in the mou

ntains of northwestern Montana for 65 years. Her love of the elk grew to the point where she would buy semi truck loads of alfalfa hay during the harsh winters to help ensure the herds survival and well being. To this day the dream is still carried on by her son Billy Hill at Elks Meadows Ranch. In fact, her final request was for her ashes to be placed on the Ranch where the Big Bulls are known to bugle the most every year. We had a wonderful time hosting our Grand opening party this last weekend. Between 180 and 200 folks came and had a great time with the good food and music we provided. Ladies and Gentlemen the time has come. It is now time to apply for your non-resident Deer and Elk combo licenses. Something new this year is the amount of time you have instead of 2 weeks you have the entire month of March the deadline to apply is April 1st , although it is a drawing it seems that folks who applied earlier had better luck , not sure if it really had anything to do with it or not . ;) SO go to the link below to get started on your application soon. Another new thing is if you are planning on applying for a cow permit so you can hunt a cow instead of a bull you need to apply for that at the same time as your Elk license . Remember you can apply NOW and deadline is April 1st drawing is planned to be held around April 20th ;) Good Luck and as always Happy Hunting ;)

OK so on January 16th while working on the lodge we had 2 bulls walk right up past the lodge. A couple of the clips are from out front and some are from the window in room 1 on the second floor. A nice 6 point and a 5 point both of which will be here this fall along with all the other guys. The only difference is they will be bigger this fall ;) You don't get a chance at harvesting one of these guys if you aren't here , they will be waiting for you ;) Happy Hunting There are 4 different clips will have to add them separately so check them all out and enjoy ;)
