Our annual Awards Banquet and Spring Meeting was held this past weekend. We are happy to announce the winners for the 2025-2026 season.

This past weekend we celebrated the end of another great season at our Awards Banquet. The first award we would like to announce is likely the most important. Vaughn Kiner took home the Maurice Olson Spirit of Curling Award this year. Vaughn embodies the Spirit of Curling through his volunteerism, mentorship, and long-standing support of the club. Congratulations, Vaughn!

RSVP deadline for the Annual Awards Banquet is Thursday 4/9 at noon. Please reach out to Dawn or Nate by then. The cost for the banquet is $40.

As most of you know, our club runs solely on volunteers. Due to decreasing memberships and available volunteers, the board has been exploring options that would help the club run more efficiently. Thanks to some test runs by our friends up in Alaska at Fairbanks Curling Club, there are many options available.

We are excited to announce that next season's ice prep will be made easy by some modern conveniences. We will have an auto-scraper, auto-sweeper, and auto-pebbler. Just like your robotic vacuum at home, you program the map path in, and off they go.

Members will have instructional days in the fall for learning to refill the pebbler.

Every year Waltham members play for the Currie Medal brought over from Scotland (see history below in last photo).

Hey Curlers, it's your time to shine!

“In addition to the invite-only Showcase, there will be another opportunity on Monday, May 18th, also at Rock Creek, for any American curler to demonstrate their skills and receive evaluation,” Gemmell added. “This will provide any player with elite-level aspirations true benchmarks, and provide a chance to demonstrate talent to high-performance staff.”

Players can register for open Showcase starting on April 8th.

USA Curling is scheduling its first Emerging Talent Showcase, an opportunity for young players in the country to have their skills evaluated, gain feedback to help improve, and develop relationships with other like-minded competitors.
