We are looking at May 22, 2021 for a meet day. Will try to get my s**t together in the next few weeks.

We’ve all had a s**t show of a year. Time to get the platforms moving.

We certainly regret this day has come, but in light of all the chaos out there, we are postponing the APF Asylum Rising meet that was scheduled for April 25, 2020.
The APF Nationals in Myrtle Beach was scheduled for the week before. We half heartedly waited to see what they were doing before we made any final decisions. Our travel plans were made but I assure you I was really uneasy about traveling. As fate would have it, they not only postponed Nationals, they actually closed Myrtle Beach.
New York State is considered a hotspot for the Chinese Virus (yes, I said it). Although Upstate numbers are low, we still have the restrictions of our state and the County we are in. Gyms throughout the country are closed. Our gym is in our home and many of you have a private facility to train, we are fortunate. Unfortunately, many of you don’t have access to training. This was a big deciding factor as well.
We all just need to pull through these difficult times. I really don’t foresee any meets happening anywhere until at the very least summertime. Our next meet was scheduled for mid-July, so we are tentatively moving Asylum Rising until then. We will set the date as soon as it seems remotely comfortable. We are hoping by the end of April we may have a better prediction. If gyms are open by then it should give us a clearer picture.
We have really put a lot in to this meet. The trophies are here. We have a fabulous new competition bench that matches our amazing monolift for the platform. We now have 2 warmup monolifts and 2 competition benches for warmups. We have new bars for the platform that will ONLY be used for the platform. We have kilo plates for the platform (because converting the numbers just plain sucks). The meet will still be awesome, it’s just on hold for a bit.
Those of you that have registered will be on the roster for July. If you have sent money for your APF card, we will not activate them until the day of the meet (gives you a few more months on your membership). We will keep you all updated via email. If you have hotel reservations, make sure you cancel. Same with airfare.
They say this pandemic will change things. Let’s make it for the better. Any of you that are hosting meets, you can count on us to support you. We really are on board for taking powerlifting back to what we dinosaurs remember. Let’s all stay healthy and make that happen.
We are always available for emails, calls and messages.

Things are wrapping up for Asylum Rising. Wanted you all to know we weren’t being lazy. I’m just a stickler and there were things I wanted done.
We know have 2 warmup monolifts and 2 warmup competition benches. Those who have lifted here know that the platform monolift is amazing and we got a new platform bench to match. Plenty of quality equipment, all new bars and KILO plates. Screw that converting. Just didn’t seem professional to me.
The trophies are cool as s**t. Looking forward to a good day!

Well, my ass is dragging but I wanted to start somewhere.
I really was nervous about hosting a meet. It has been a long time and I am old and broken.
Thanks to so many great people. We had a fantastic maiden voyage. Got to see many old faces and got to meet a whole bunch of new ones.
We want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make Asylum Rising a successful event.
The platform ran smooth with the help of James Rocco Farina ,Josh Navritil, Nick Millard , Ron Daly, Sebastian Burns, Tyr Morford, Janet Faraone, and RaeAnn Miller. Kerrigan Sue McCaslin took many pics and vids that I haven’t looked over yet.

There were some wonderful ladies who donated food. Diane Bellinger made wonderful sandwiches, you’d think we were opening a bistro, cookies and brownies from Pat Prill and Chantal Cooke. Annie Kryz donated cases of water. Ladies, we raised $408. For HopeKids 😊
And only saved until last because they are amazing in our lives every day. Nina Razics Kosiba and Brian Kosiba. Nina worked the food and door all day even though she had just returned from Europe where she chaperoned a large group of kids for a week. Brian ran the grill all day, made sure the platform equipment was in place and was literally responsible for having plumbing and heat on Saturday. He keeps the asylum running.
Looking forward to many more good times with good people.
