Who’s in Cycle Wednesday? 🥋Sensei Dan Wojciechowski🥋

Sensei Dan is going for his 4th Degree Black Belt at his 4th Black Belt Extravaganza! In the Summer of 2023, he earned his 3rd Degree Black Belt. Dan earned his 2nd Degree in 2019 and his 1st Degree in 2017, both at the Richboro Dojo. After years of training, he became Sensei Dan and the lead instructor at Trevose in 2024.

Dan isn’t the only member of his family who has earned a Black Belt. His mother, Jen, and siblings Sara and Sean are all 2nd Degree Black Belts

We asked Jen and Sara what they thought about Dan getting his 4th Degree.
Sara shared that she’s proud of him and happy that he has persevered to reach this next milestone. Jen shared that when Dan was 11 years old, he wanted to quit karate. However, after talking with his Sensei, he decided to keep training and work toward earning his Black Belt.

A few years after they started training, his father, Kyle, asked him, “Do you want to be a Sensei?” At the time, Dan didn’t think it was possible. After years of hard work and dedication, he became a Sensei and now he is going for his 4th Degree! Both of his parents are incredibly proud of him and can’t wait to see him earn his next Black Belt.

We also asked Dan what he has improved on the most throughout the past few years. He shared that his teaching and discipline have improved the most. Dan also enjoys helping students be the best they can be.

His favorite thing about karate is the people you meet. Karate has given him the opportunity to meet so many different people, build friendships, and connect with others.

When asked what his biggest lesson or takeaway from karate has been, Dan shared "Always look to grow". There is always something to improve and get better at in karate. Even as the head instructor, he is still learning and improving every day.

Dan also shared his Words of Wisdom to his future self: “Never forget where you began.”

Sensei Dan is getting his 4th Degree Black Belt this Saturday at the Black Belt Extravaganza! With more than 100 people earning their Black Belts, this is an event you don’t want to miss! 🥋

Who's in Cycle Wednesday? 🥋Coach Karisa Dunn🥋
Coach Karisa is going to be earning her third-degree black belt at her third-ever Black Belt Extravaganza! She earned her second degree back in the summer of 2023 and her first degree in the winter of 2021 with her family.

Karisa isn't the only Dunn who has earned a black belt. The Dunn family started back in 2016 when Zach was being bullied at school and needed a positive outlet. The school counselor recommended karate, so he started training at the Richboro dojo. Karisa saw how much karate improved his life and started training with Jason. A few months later, Cameron and Chelsea started Karate. After earning their black belts, they switched dojos to the Trevose dojo. Ten years later, all five Dunns are still training in karate!

We asked the Dunns for their thoughts on Karisa earning her new belt. Jason shared that he loves seeing her so excited about earning her third-degree black belt. Chelsea shared that she's happy to see Karisa back on the mat, learning new things. Cameron shared Karisa's been working hard and if someone deserves it, it should be her!

Karisa shared that ever since she started karate, she has become more confident. She originally thought she was an introvert and shy, but karate helped her realize she was just insecure. Karisa needed something to help her get out of her comfort zone and build her confidence, and karate did just that.

We asked Karisa, "What is your favorite thing about karate?" She shared that she loves learning new self-defense techniques and the dojo family dynamic. How all the friends you meet along the way become family. She enjoys self-defense because it's fun when you're learning and more fun when you mess up. If you mess up, you can just laugh at yourself, reset, and try again.

Karisa's biggest lesson and takeaway from martial arts is to never give up! Always improve on something, and never stop learning.

When asked what words of wisdom she would share with future karate students, Karisa said, "Don't wait to start karate. If you want to do karate, just do it!" The hardest step is always the first one!

We can't wait to see Karisa earn her third-degree black belt! Watch her earn this degree at the Black Belt Extravaganza on September 19th! 🥋
