There’s something I’ve heard multiple times this week.
We get to a certain age and start looking at the people who came before us.
The things they did well.
The things they struggled with.
The choices they made.
The consequences of those choices.
And whether we realize it or not, we start asking ourselves:
“How do I want to age?”
“How do I want to feel?”
“What kind of example am I setting for the people watching me?”
Because now we’re not just living for ourselves anymore.
We’re raising tiny humans who are learning what self-worth looks like.
What confidence looks like.
What strength looks like.
What taking care of your health looks like.
They watch how we talk about our bodies.
They watch whether we prioritize ourselves or constantly put ourselves last.
They watch whether we treat movement as punishment or as a gift.
And that is worth more than any dollar amount.
Especially during the summer.
When the kids are home.
The schedules are chaos.
The snacks never stop.
And finding five minutes alone feels like an Olympic sport.
Taking care of yourself isn’t optional.
It’s necessary.
Not because you need to be smaller.
Not because you need to earn your food.
Not because you need to look a certain way.
Because you deserve to feel good.
Because your future self deserves support.
Because your kids deserve to see a woman who values herself enough to show up.
Some days that looks like a workout.
Some days it looks like a walk.
Some days it looks like drinking your water and going to bed on time.
The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is choosing yourself often enough that your kids grow up knowing they’re allowed to do the same. 💛
