Fall is Shawn's favorite season (mine is a tie between Spring & Summer:)

With cooler temps and an abundance of harvest there certainly is a lot to celebrate. There's a natural elegance to the season with its distinct colors and shapes as the robust greenery of Summer wanes.

A time of transition, Autumn serves as reminder of the value of change and calls us to reflect on the months that have passed and prepare for those yet to become.

It is a source of vital nutrients and, if you love gathering and creating, how you acquire the food can be fun and stress-relieving: “pick-your-own’ options, growing it yourself, forming relationships with local farmers & producers, or taking in all the colors displayed on neatly arranged market shelves…then brining it home to prepare and cook can feel very satisfying.

Sitting by moving water, as we are here, is an activity you can engage in to increase awareness of self and the outer world.

Waterfalls, rivers, and streams can significantly improve wellbeing via connecting with the sound of rushing water, breathing in naturally purified air, and grounding if you immerse yourself in the water.

There's no sole determinant of wellbeing, but physical health is one crucial element.

Jospeh Pilates, creator of the eponymous method of physical fitness, believed that emotional health was inextricably linked to physical wellbeing. He taught that Pilates is about gaining mastery of your mind and in turn control over your body.

This week we’re exploring healthy practices one can engage to:

- Encourage awareness of emotions ( both pleasant and unpleasant),
- Develop effective coping strategies for managing stress,
- Adapt well to changes and uncertainty
- Increase resiliency in moving through challenges,
- Creating positive relationships (with self, others, God…)

Exercise, whether Pilates or another form of attentive movement, is fundamental to good health. We’re made to move!
