Hello Jr Bulldog families.
This morning our youth program, the Tracy Jr Bulldogs Youth Football and Cheer was honored with recognition from the Tracy Chamber Business Group. The award was announced during a press conference that the organization was selected to be the recipient of this award among other community leaders and organizations that were identified as having positively impact our community.
Excerpts below from the Press Conference held today:
“The Tracy Junior Bulldogs have been in existence for over 40 years and was designed to get kids ready for playing high school football. All Junior Bulldog coaches are USA Football certified and receive instruction from Tracy High coaching staff. Kids in the Jr Bulldogs program learn the basics of the offense and defense in preparation for playing football in high school.
The Tracy Junior Bulldogs are a part of the Delta Youth Football League. This league is the oldest and most stable league in the central valley. The Tracy Junior Bulldogs (previously known as the Tracy Raiders) has been a part of this league since 1973. Tracy has a long standing tradition of excellence and boasts it has helped over 10,000 children in its long 42 years.
This program has had an influence that spans generations in Tracy. Many of the former Raiders/Bulldogs are now educators, professionals and coaches deeply rooted and invested into the community of Tracy. Many youth and coaches have gone through the system and have been deeply impacted by the leadership and discipline they were introduced to as Junior Bulldogs.
Because of the impact the Tracy Junior Bulldogs has had in the lives of the thousands of students they have served over the years, the Tracy Chamber Hispanic Business Group is recognizing them with a Sports/Athletics Award.”
About Latino Awards:
The Latino Leadership & Scholarship Awards have been celebrating the accomplishments of leaders in the tracy community for 12 years. The purpose of this event is to recognize leaders who are making a difference in the Hispanic community. As a way of fostering new leadership with local youth, the Tracy Chamber Hispanic Business Group, (HBG) also gives out scholarships to high school students. These students are recognized for their achievements and pursuits in the following categories: Academics, Sports/Athletics, Health & Science, and many others. Students who are in need of financial aid/assistance are also given the opportunity of receiving a financial need scholarship entitled “El Futuro” which means “Our Future”/ The first 12 student scholarships were funded by HBG member Juana Dements as the Mendez Family scholarships and as a tradition, have continued to be awarded to students through the financial support of local businesses.
This year, for the first time ever, the HBG has decided to incorporate recognizing students who are receiving scholarships from other community organizations as a way to show the collaboration and unity of these groups. South Side Community Organization, Tracy Latin Athletic Club, California Latino Leadership Association and an Asian Pacific Scholarship will also be awarded the night of the Latino Awards.
