Today I started out on a small trail. The trail got even smaller. Then it turned into a deer run and then it disappeared altogether. A good amount of bushwhacking came next as I tried to find the nearby fire road.
I was never really nervous because my AllTrails app was showing me the way even though I wasn’t on a mapped trail. But on my way back to the car on the fire road trail I did see a coyote which made me nervous. He was ahead of me on the trail and scampered off but I grab a stick to fight it off if needed.
I made it back ok. The adventure was a success. I saw some great scenery and wildlife. It was good to get back into the woods after my brief hiatus.

Remember how I made a bow by hand a few months back? I finally found some arrows at an estate sale so I could try it out at my local archery course.
What’s an archery course? It’s kinda like disc golf except for archery. A wooded trail with 18 different targets to enjoy.
This is my first time shooting a bow since I was a kid.
How did I do? 11 out of 18 targets hit and 3 arrows lots in the underbrush. I had a great time!!

Some urban hiking was in the menu today. I was supposed to meet up with a hiking group but it was postponed due to rain. I didn’t get the message until I had already arrived so I did my own hike solo. Thankfully no rain and some beautiful views at Patterson Park Pagoda in Baltimore. Getting outside doesn’t always mean the woods. It can be the city, the ‘burbs, your backyard. The goal is just to BMore Outdoors

What a beautiful day to Bmore Outdoors in historic Ellicott City Maryland. The beautiful shops and cafes on Main Street, the B&O Station Museum, and the Trolly Line #9 Trail were the highlight of the day. And of course the iced coffee from the Old Mill Cafe. The trail was about 3 miles total up and back. Paved and well shady on a warm day. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend.

Not many views this time around. Heavy under growth blocked a lot of the water. But we are outside. And that is all that matters. Loch Raven Reservoir has so many great trails. Get out there and try some.

Found this beautiful Indigo Bunting after he hit a window. Made sure he got off to the rehab center for a look.
