Howdy everyone!! I just posted a picture of a visiting horse enjoying my front pasture with his buddies. Yes, I'm definitely still in business and yes, I'm still renting my cabins and stalls/paddocks to guests with horses. I also welcome guests without horses who want a great mountain/ranch/country experience in the Great Smoky Mountains!! I've had a lot of trail riders already this season and hope to see a lot more throughout 2025. Greetings from the Great Smoky Mountains and Gilbertson's Lazy Horse Retreat! I figured it was about time to say howdy and let everyone know that we're still going strong. Also, in case anyone has a hankerin' for a last minute getaway, my Treehouse log cabin just became available for three nights starting this Wednesday the 31st. Hello all you horse and nature lovers! It's been a great and also busy year here at the Retreat. By God's grace we're still plugging away and enjoying seeing new and old friends. October is our busiest month of the year. All cabins are booked but I had six nights open up in my smaller Cowboy Cabin. October 10, 11, 12 and 13th, plus the 23rd and 24th are open. Happy 2020 everyone! Even if I haven't posted anything for 3 years (WHAT? lol). I'm still kickin' and the Retreat is still going strong! My website was updated last year (www.lazyhorseretreat.com), all the cabins have been renovated, and the trails are ready and waiting for trail riders! I hope to meet many new people this year as well as seeing lots of my "old" friends!

We have four rental cabins, plus optional facilities for horse owners to bring their horses on vacation with them. You will find our tranquil ranch setting a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of God’s work.

The fall colors are awesome now. As you look up at Rich Mountain it is at it's "peak"! I had a last minute cancellation in the Hideout, so starting tomorrow (Oct. 26th) there are four nights available. It would be a wonderful time for a visit!!

We are having beautiful "fallish" weather! I have two campsites available for this weekend, plus the smaller Cowboy Cabin. Maybe it's time for a last minute get-away!!

I appreciate all the kayakers who stayed at the Retreat last weekend. The river was great for the paddling enthusiasts after all the rain last week!
