🏆 IBJJF Pan Jiu Jitsu Championships Recap 🏆

This past weekend at one of the toughest and most prestigious tournaments in the world, our team stepped up in a big way. I couldn’t be more proud of this group.

🥇 Amanda went out and won GOLD in her first tournament as a Brown Belt (M1 Light Featherweight). She had a bye first round, won her next match 3-0, and then submitted her opponent in the finals. Once again, Amanda didn’t give up a single point all day, about as dominant as it gets.

🥈 Hector had an incredible run to Silver in the M2 Brown Belt Middleweight division. He finished his first match with an RNC, then pulled off a wild comeback kneebar with 8 seconds left in his quarterfinal match. He followed that with another RNC in the semis. In the finals, he lost by a single advantage in a 2-2 match against a very tough opponent.

🥉 Justin took Bronze in the Purple Belt M3 Heavyweight division. Tough quarterfinal win and came up short in the semis against the eventual silver medalist.

🥉 Ken also earned Bronze in the Blue Belt M5 Ultra Heavyweight division. Won his quarterfinal by ref decision and lost in the semis to the eventual champion. Big respect to Ken for stepping up and competing at this level just weeks after getting his Blue Belt.

Super proud of everyone who stepped on the mat.

2025 IBJJF No Gi Jiu Jitsu World Championship — Las Vegas, NV 🌎🥋

This weekend, NJ United Mixed Martial Arts was represented on the big stage in Jiu Jitsu, and our athletes delivered in a major way.

The event attracted over 4,000 competitors from over 50 countries, and Black Belt world titles were claimed by athletes from eight different nations.

🥇 Amanda Humphrey — Women’s Purple Belt M1 No Gi Jiu Jitsu Light Featherweight Champion

Already the 2024 IBJJF Blue Belt M1 World Champion and 2025 IBJJF Purple Belt M1 World and Pan Jiu Jitsu Champion in the Gi, Amanda added yet another world title to her resume.

• Qualifier: Armbar
• Semi-Finals: Rear Naked Choke
• Finals: Rear Naked Choke

Amanda went unscored on in all three matches, showcasing dominant takedowns, relentless guard passing, and great guard work, submitting all three of her opponents. A flawless performance on the world stage.

🥇 Hector Mercado — Men’s Brown Belt M2 No Gi Jiu Jitsu Middleweight Champion

The 2024 IBJJF Purple Belt M2 World Champion and 2025 IBJJF Purple Belt M2 Pan Jiu Jitsu Champion in the Gi secured his first No Gi World Championship title.

As the number 2 seed, Hector earned a first-round bye, won his qualifying match by referee decision, and shut out his Semi-Finals opponent 6–0.

In the Finals, Hector faced a tough D1 Wrestler and current 2025 Brown Belt Pan No Gi Champion. After a hard-fought back-and-forth battle, Hector scored with a beautiful sweep to win 2–0, finishing the entire day unscored upon.

🔥 Honorable Mention — Zoric Turanskiy — Men’s M5 Black Belt No Gi Middleweight

Although he didn’t come home with a medal, Zoric displayed everything that defines our academy: heart, technique, cardio, and relentless will.

After going down 2–0 in his opening match, Zoric rallied in the final minute, took his opponent’s back, scored 4 points, and nearly finished the choke — earning a 4–2 victory.

He came up short in the Quarterfinals to the eventual World Champion by advantages in a tightly contested 0–0 match.

Extremely proud of these competitors and the dedication they have to the art!

We wrapped up an incredible weekend the right way - celebrating the hard work, sacrifices, and victories with our team dinner. 🔥

Huge Results from IBJJF New Jersey Fall International Open & Jiu Jitsu World League East Finals 🏅

We couldn’t be more proud of our team! Our athletes showed incredible heart, skill, and dedication in their matches. Here’s how it went down:

🥇 🥈 Zoric took Silver in the Black Belt M5 Middleweight division highlighted by a 11-2 win in the Semi-Finals. He then went on to claim GOLD in the Open Weight class defeating a seasoned opponent in the Finals! Zoric displayed great sweeps, heart, and top control in every match. 💥

🥇🥇 Amanda once again took DOUBLE GOLD submitting all four of her opponents! Amanda dominated the Purple Belt M1 Light Featherweight division, then took the Open Weight class by storm with great takedowns, pressure passing, and her signature back attacks. 🔥

🥇 Justin won GOLD in the Purple Belt M3 Heavyweight division! Justin powered through two tough opponents to secure his victory and add another title to our academy’s collection! 💪

🥉 Matty O. showed true grit at the Jiu Jitsu World League East Finals. With no one in his weight class, he bumped up to a higher division and still managed to earn a Bronze medal after defeating two skilled opponents! 🙌

Incredible work from every competitor. These results are just a glimpse of the heart, hustle, and technique we train every day. We couldn’t be prouder of these athletes for representing NJ United with such skill and sportsmanship.

The journey doesn’t stop here! Let’s keep grinding and pushing for more! 🙏

GOLD Medal Performance 🥇

Huge congrats to Matty O. for taking first place this weekend at Grappling Industries in Rahway!

With no competitors in his own weight class, Matty made the bold move to compete up a weight division and dominated his bracket with excellent technique and relentless pressure:

✅ First Match: 13-0 Victory
✅ Finals: 17-0 Victory

Matty showcased beautiful sweeps and relentless top control from start to finish. We are incredibly proud of his progress as both a jiu-jitsu competitor and martial artist.

Keep grinding, Matty - the hard work is paying off!

The IBJJF Masters World Championships at the Las Vegas Convention Center is the biggest and most prestigious event in the world for athletes aged 30 and older. This year’s event featured some of the biggest names in combat sports — including UFC champion and former pound-for-pound No. 1 Demetrious Johnson, former Bellator MMA Middleweight Champion Rafael Lovato Jr., and BJJ World Champion and all-time great Ffion Davies.

And NJ United Mixed Martial Arts made its mark on the world stage. 💪

We’re proud to announce that our team brought home TWO medals from this incredible event:

🏆 Amanda Humphrey is your 2025 M1 Purple Belt Light Featherweight WORLD CHAMPION!
As the No. 1 seed and reigning Pan Jiu Jitsu Champion, Amanda dominated her division, submitting two of her three opponents en route to GOLD. She’s now a back-to-back world champion, after taking gold last year as a blue belt. 👑🔥

🥈 Doug Murphy secured the Silver Medal in the M5 Purple Belt Super Heavyweight division!
Doug shocked the bracket by upsetting the No. 1 seed with a dramatic finish in the final 5 seconds. Grit, determination, and championship heart. ⏱️💥

👏 Also showing incredible skill and effort:
• Hector Mercado – Won 2 matches and just missed the podium in a 0-0 quarterfinal decided by advantage.
• Crew Schielke – Opened strong with a solid takedown win, then battled BJJ legend Eduardo Telles coming up short on points.
• Zoric Turanskiy & Blake Hendricks – Both fought hard in tightly contested matches against high-level opponents.

We couldn’t be prouder of this group. Your preparation, heart, and performances represented NJ United at the highest level.
