Hello Alvord / CT Disc Golf community, the growing season is upon us and we will be in need of assistance with keeping our fairways trimmed. Volunteers with weedwhackers needed! I need to stay focused on tee building / invasive plant management, so help with weedwhacking is crucial. Here’s a current to do list:
Hole 1: basket green, bottom of hill, path to 2.
Hole 3: fairway
Hole 8: (I can possibly mow it soon…)
Hole 11 - 14: if someone has a brush trimmer blade, the small shrubbery in walkways, landing zones and basket greens needs to be reduced.
Hole 15: basket green.
Hole 17: approach fairway.
Hole 18: fairway.
I will be at Alvord Sunday. If anyone can come, weather looks good. I have heavy duty weedwhacker wire I can spare if someone needs it. Please let me know if anyone can help out! We will need continued help right into the Fall. Each year, it will get easier and we will need less work. Hole 5 is a prime example. It originally had 8’ tall thistles, and fields of ground poison Ivy. It’s now clean and just grassy with patches of ferns! Let’s get the whole course looking like that by keeping up with the maintenance!
Note: please don’t cut down any Japanese knotweed. I need to use special methods to kill it over the next few years. Thanks!
