When SafeWrap was first introduced in 2024, the concept was met with significant skepticism.

While the medical monitoring advantages were clear, many traditional use-of-force instructors questioned whether lateral restraint could ever provide the same level of control as conventional prone restraint, much less improve upon it.

In 2025, the Institute for the Prevention of In-Custody Deaths (IPICD) requested and received permission to independently study the first 130 documented field applications of SafeWrap to evaluate how the system was performing in real-world encounters. These were their results.
