Just take a look at all the $550,000 worth of improvements led by the Coal River Group at this site. (the total includes the CRG office building, (insured for $200,000) the $20,000 handicapped walking trail the two $20,000 boat launches with parking lots The Handicapped pier dedicated to Veterans of foreign wars) and the extensive hiking and wetland trails.) in improvements the Coal River Group has made to the counties wonderful small Meadowood Park. The Nonprofit group has little money of its own but his has great friends who want to help improve the rivers and the region. Meadowood is a great example of the CRG's capacity to bring help and money to public facilities like Meadwood Park. The Dam rebuild was worth at least $250,000. The CRG used its contacts and friends like Terridon Engineering to engineer a major repair project to the old, failed dam. The group secured a major contractor who took on the entire rebuild of the 250' long dam according to the engineering plans. The rebuilding required all of the huge plumbing for outlet drains, intakes in the water and excavation to be redone. The total project used over 1000 tons of rock. Today the project is a shining example of how private groups working with non-profits can bring new economic growth to our region. Thanks to Terridon and Alpha Energy plus all the other companies and state agencies who have provided grants to the CRG for making improvements to the park, for all the help.
